The same argument can be made for graduate transfers

I don’t have to.
He may be a better prototypical TE. But Trey’Dez will be the starter. He’s too potent a weapon.

It's funny that they're giving their PR director Dellenger their entire losing court argument to share publicly ahead of time.
Picking a fight with the LSU faithful means you’re digging your own grave.

No, I got you. I misread his post and was thinking about Green. Mea culpa.

I think Harris, when in shape, gives LSU the middle plug to be very stout

Maybe once he’s healthy and in game shape, yes.
Until then, he’s a depth piece.

I'm pretty sure he will be at some point and then take over one of the inside spots

Cannot wait for all this to end and be done with.

Let’s hope we get a chance to find out.

Sounds like they crawfishing. Oh and so is Dellenger. Give us names of sources that said they were coming hard after LSU

It’s lawyer jibber-jabber.
You don’t get an injunction because you don’t like the result. There has to be some legal basis showing that the enjoined party did something legally wrong. A lot of unfair actions are legal.
The pleadings are a little hard to follow, but from what I can tell, they are hanging there hat on Louisiana antitrust laws and the Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices Act. Both of these are statutes with specific requirements.
(Note: Some of the earlier pleadings mention tortious interference with contract and civil conspiracy. Those can be tough claims in Louisiana. It isn’t clear to me whether they are still relying on those theories.)

Is this good or bad? Talk to me goose. I am just a grad student.

Hmmmm
What about a 6th year player being eligible that the ncaa denied twice?

It’s interesting. I was just talking to a colleague over lunch about what the legal basis of the claims is.
I like the antitrust argument.
The Louisiana Unfair Trade Practices claims are usually hard to prove. I don’t love those.
I think that potential LSU players in state court are going to get the benefit of the doubt.
I also think there is some serious legal risk to LSU in playing these guys whether or not they get an injunction. I do not think it protects you if it gets reversed later.
That’s just my personal view.

Their argument is literally "won't somebody think about the kids".
frick them kids. these are pro athletes with a college credit requirement.

I figured out why they are confusing to my feeble mind.
Tony Clayton is representing most of the players involved.
Derrick Dee has just one of them.
Each attorney has pursued slightly different theories.
It took me a minute.

The first argument is the one I'm blowing up.
My first argument is that the SEC has NOT, in any way shape or form, continued to fight the Mississippi ruling allowing a 6th year of eligibility for another player, thus discriminating against all teams in the league who wish to allow 5/5 players to participate.
That is NOT a fair or honest application of the bylaws of the SEC.
It's a major flaw in their argument that is easily proven in court.

Whoever is representing LSU needs to be on top of the question of are we at risk of retroactive punishment if the injunction gets overturned.
If the answer is yes then it would be stupid to risk that all for depth pieces at TE and DT, even if we have to back down. Ideally you would use a positive ruling to negotiate an agreement with the SEC to revise the rules so they only go into effect after this season.
