The frick? Hiring someone that's never been a coach on any level before to be the CB coach simply because he's a former player is the very thing you claimed to have an issue with - a buddy system hire that's not best for LSU. And I love Pat Pete but he would have to start as a position coach at a smaller school or start here as an analyst or something before being considered for a position coach role at LSU. Just because he's a great player doesn't mean he'll be a great coach.

I'm sure it didn't hurt that he is on staff at Ohio St, but ultimately it comes down to NIL monies. Add in the fact that Downs and Sammy went to Ohio St from AL, and sure there's a draw, b/c Sammy was the de facto safety coach at AL for much of his time there.
As far as why he's not at LSU, I think the poster knows more on that subject and looking for bites

If money wasn’t the determining factor and better was; then what do you believe Petitto was the determining factor. He isn’t an on field coach.

FYI - Sam is NOT a position coach. He was employed by Georgia, Alabama, and now Ohio State as a Director of Player Personnel. He does NOT coach players or any position on the field
hey OP - Blaine Bradford's primary recruiter @ tOSU is Matt Guerrieri. Based on his track record, he's not the greatest recruiter. Bradford is his 1st ever 5-star commit and lots of 3-stars that signed. Guerrieri just happens to be coaching at a blue blood school that has no problem buying players in today's NIL world.

Sam does have a great reputation in Louisiana! His family is well respected around the Florida parishes!

I never Fkn said he was a positions coach. Period! I brought up a few issues on one post with Petitto being the main topic! He moved from Georgia to Bama to Ohio St. for a reason! That reason is because he recruits players! That’s part of what being AD to player personnel does! I brought up the issues on Safety position and tied into the fact that LSU lost out on the top safety in the state to Ohio St. Tell me the last time that happened? Sire we lost a few fo Georgia, Bama but Ohio St.? The common denominator is Petitto and I don’t give two shits who disagrees with that on this board!

Nah my point was if we’re gonna use the buddy system at least use someone who’s played the Fkn position before and who’s actually good at it! I never said it would make him a good coach but he could mentor under Corey Raymond who also was here when he played for LSU!!

Maybe read the job description of someone who’s an Asst Player Personnel. They are directly involved in recruiting.

No I heard he moved out of state. I think he moved to Florida and started some sports agency company.
