Raise your hand if you’re thankful Jimbo isn’t our head coach

Admittedly, There was a time when I wanted him, as many of us did.

We dodged a bullet.

A&M can have him.

Me neither. At the time I figured he was Les Miles 2.0. Now I don’t think he’s as good as Miles.

This place was almost completely in wanting either Jimbo or Herman as head coach, and both would’ve been disasters for us if they had panned out.

Instead we got Ed Orgeron, who for all his faults managed to capture lightning in a bottle in 2019, and now we replaced him with an established head coach who has already had a good year under his belt

Funny how it goes sometimes

I wasn't a fan of his when he was our OC. His offense wasn't what won us the title in 03. I do think he's a good recruiter but I've never been a fan of his play calling or designs. It works when you have a guy like Jamarcus Russell or Jameis Winston, and it can do enough to not lose you games when you have the best defense in the league, but generally year to year it's not the brand of football I want to sign up for.

Last year when they had 1 play to beat Bama and they designed a throw short of the goal line I got flashbacks to the final play of the Auburn game in 06. Why he has a hard on for throwing short of the goal line in do or die plays at the end of the game, I don't know. I didn't want Jimbo as our HC, we already went through that rodeo and once was enough for me. Especially didn't want that shite again coming off of the Miles years.

I'd read years ago about his "sloppiness". I never wanted him anywhere near the Tigers.

After the FSU complete disaster, I’m not sure why anybody wanted him. Crab legs saved him.

FSU had issues regarding spending on athletics, facilities in particular, back then. Jimbo wanted out at least 3 years prior to his only bad season.
Without Famous Jameis

I never wanted him as the head coach but to say he was a complete disaster or that Winston saved him is disingenuous at best.

10-4 (first 10 win season in 7)
9-4
12-2
Jameis NC
Jameis lost to Oregon in the first round of CFP
10-3
10-3
5-6

He’s actually Ed O 2.0.

Won a natty with a stellar qb and then hasn’t done shite after. Gets a few key wins to save his arse after

Agreed we dodged a bullet with Jimbo- he is the perfect mediocre coach for a school whose proudest tradition is mediocrity.

Herman IMO is still a remarkable “what if” moments in coaching. I think UTa is a very difficult program to have success with the JR Ewings writing checks and feeling they should be in the head coaches ear. The boosters in Austin effectively blew up the “Saban to TX” thing which did have some legs.

Multiple 10 win seasons after his championship. Just say you don’t know what you are talking about.

I’m so glad he isn’t our coach.

He would have been a slight upgrade to Miles when we made the pass at him. Glad we didn’t get him from Aggy

He talks very, very fast so it’s hard to keep up, but if you really listen to the words coming out of his mouth he’s a complete fricking idiot. His ideas on team leadership and how to run a program are unfathomably stupid for a guy who’s getting paid what he gets paid

Jimbo is an aging, fat, machine-gun cocaine-induced speaking coach. I think he comes across as a stupid village idiot hillbilly.

Now, do you really want to know how I feel?

PS - We better be ready for the Aggies this year as they do have a good team.

I do hate that somehow Jimbo has replaced arky or ole miss as a team that gives us an issue at times. Him being 3-2 with Aggy vs us is pretty flukish. His 18 win vs Ed in 7 OTs with multiple bad calls, 2020 which was a garbage year that shouldn’t count, last year took a shite team and whipped our arse.
