Football,

But I’d rather us be a basketball school than a baseball school.

Is Wade coming to us with a 3-21 SEC record???

A lot of the Wade hype seems to be coming from his recruiting effort and personally, it seems deserved at this time.

I think the best case scenario is he does for us what Donavan did at Florida.

Wade said that was one of the pulls for him to come to LSU. I've been saying that for years. Florida (despite one Final Four appearance) had relatively little basketball success prior to Donovan. Yet, they had the same advantages LSU has. No significant in state competition (FSU and Miami only intermittently fielded decent basketball teams). A very good instate talent base and most importantly, money for resources.

It is going to be a tough row to hoe though in getting folks interested in hoops. Much different time and culture than in the 80's.

LSU is getting 10K plus for freaking gymnastics meets. If the basketball program ever becomes a consistent power again the crowds will show up.

I don't know how many of the blue-bloods made a play for Donavan, but I think if one of them made a play for Wade it would be tough to turn them down for a school that has not cared about hoops for a long, long time.

Show Wade LSU is willing to make a big commitment to the basketball program and I suspect he would stay (if happy). Sure, the HC at UK, UNC, Duke, Indiana, KU are treated the same as great football coaches in the SEC. But as long as the pay/resources are somewhat comparable, why leave a major power to go to a school where the expectations are you have to be at least as good as Coach K, or Calipari, Self, Roy Williams, etc? That's a HIGH bar. I think it would be a much more comfortable lifestyle making 4-5 million per while competing for championships AND not having a fanbase with incredible expectations (those are largely reserved for football at LSU)

If the right blue blood came along and Wade had massive success I dont see why not. I highly doubt we'd match what a big program would offer.

Ah, well shite. That settles it then.

Matt Moscona play fight/flirting with Lee Feinswog who has a woman's take on sports is the worst radio segment. And Lee Feinswog is one of those people who wants to make damn good and sure that people know he's not from here. He's a blueblood from the northeast who is in to drinking wine and playing in a water polo league or whatever the shite it is that he does. Figure skating maybe? I don't know, but can't stand the guy.

If he is good enough to jump to one of the "basketball" schools it means LSU basketball was relevant again.

I understand Wade's a bit pissed off at the lack of follow-through on some of the facilities improvements Alleva promised him.

So Alleva may be greasing the skids for Wade to do just that-use LSU for a steppingstone.

Remind me again who our AD is and why anyone should think Wade would want to stay and work under him as opposed to a Duke, Kent., or any other basketball school?

He sure like JA enough to come here and take the job???

If LSU gave him the right resources, I could see Wade staying for a good while. He could pull a donovan and just go to the pros. Obviously I’m saying this under the assumption he’s the badass i presume he is.

Totally and absolutely different kinda crowd and dynamic, and IMHO not comparable. LSU went to the tournament in 2005 and the Final 4 in 2006 and only sold the building out once. Even after going to the Final 4 early the next year, 9K was a good crowd.

I hope he is successful enough that we have to sweat it.

Can you expound a little more on this? I mean, LSU has its own basketball practice facility and now has the largest scoreboard in college basketball. Anything else I'm missing?

Saban didn't leave LSU for a football "blue blood". He left for the NFL and he has openly stated he wanted to come back to LSU and leaving was a mistake. Circumstances made that impossible at that time unfortunately for us, but he never would have left for another college job and he's said that.

yes,a bastion of integrity.
