I tend to agree. Sankey and the league support the College Sports Act, so I think Rousse mentioned it to find some common ground to work toward ending this circus. Hell, ESPN was running ads featuring Saban in support of the legislation last night.
I don't necessarily want the government involved either, but the NCAA and conferences have allowed this new era of college sports to turn into a circus. With all the time and money wasted on litigation, somebody needs to put this shite in check.

No, but it is calling the SEC's bluff. Our Office has effectively used counter-suits with 3rd party defendants to bring negotiations to the forefront and cut through the BS.

Lane has said that they have been in constant communication with the SEC.
My guess is that these guys get rostered but don't play until there is direction from the Federal Court in Alabama.

Stupid take. Congress is not necessary to fix this mess and should not be used to "fix it".
NCAA brought this on themselves. Players and coaches brought this on themselves. They decided to turn college sports into a for profit venture and into a pro league.
Just stop the BS charade and end it. No more college sports, and let these pro-leagues and billionaires pay for their own minor leagues. Stop the farce that is the student athlete as it is insulting to actual student athletes, and leave it as club sports. If schools want to make money on their investments in stadiums, then lease them for games to the pro minor leagues but don't associate the teams with academia anymore.
College sports are dead and have been since these money grubbing ADs, conferences, Media companies and coaches/players took over.

This. The SEC appears to have arbitrarily set the rule to be directly affecting LSU and only LSU. They could have just as easily said no NFl players who would have had eligibility remaining who have made any team’s 53-man roster and no one would be arguing about anything.

The goal should be to have that dropped by the sec. It’s an incredibly dumb move for a conference to sue a member following a court order.
It’s dumb to leak things to Ross as well but this is the same sec office that has allowed the once top dog to be by passed by the big10. We aren’t dealing with smart people running the conference, it’s why the big10 got a better media deal, it’s why they aren’t the ones with egg all over their face over 40 players.

And now it is clear , all of the media attention was coordinated to put pressure on Congress to pass “the act”. I would expect LSU to abstain from adding the two players as they will become the martyrs for the cause.

We can all agree, that having NFL “Practicers” coming back to be put on college rosters is not good for the sport.
But you can’t break the law when formulating rules, which they did. You can’t pick and choose which court ruling you’re going to fight. If you want to fight the law, fight them all.
They should have put a waiver for this one time only, given the circumstances, but they didn’t. Their ego is so damaged that they now have to save face by rallying the media troops to parrot on their behalf. So political, so sad.

They also could have stood by the rule that has been in place for as long as Ive follow college football and once you have declared for the draft, your eligibility is dne. Then none of these players are allowed, atleast thry could have argued in court for actually enforcing their rule equally across all players.
The nit picking of who is and isnt a professional is what has made this the big mess it is.

You’re missing my point. The way out of this is to make the players employees and collectively bargain. But the presidents won’t do that, for selfish reasons.
