Exactly they picked a really dumb route to try and nit pick, none of the players pulled their names out of the draft. So either put the line there or put it at you can’t take a guy that makes an actual roster and then was cut. They also have the issue of in the past they never tried to break court order via rules and they have now done that.

They should have fought this from the start or once they didn’t just regroup make a timely rule that is clean and clear and it’s done.

That woulda been great to have finished that clip with this clip and have AI replace Tim Matheson with Lane Kiffin.

I think it will be an absolutely terrible look if it comes out that we had agreements in place (which is what's been reported for a while now) and these guys in court repping our university, and don't end up putting these guys on the roster. I just don't see how that goes well for LSU. We may end up with a back alley deal that they're not going to play at least until the next hearing takes place, and might abide by that, but it's not going to look good at all if we just tell them oops sorry we can't take you now.

Also, it looks like the SEC is doubling down on their bullshite with trying to prop up Sankey and stand behind them

LSU's connection to Congress should be a bigger theme here. The Speaker of the House is an LSU and LSU Law grad. The LSU President's statement steers to action from Congress to resolve these ongoing issues.

Unfortunately, the NCAA is incompetent and has abdicated responsibility to Congress. So that’s the best available option.

It's not that they are incompetent but instead these athletes are allowed to run to the courts like a child every time a rule doesn't go their way.

Without a law the Judicial branch has neutered the NCAA. So they have to get the legislative and executive branch to put the judicial branch in check.

Please God, we do not need the US government to "fix" college sports. Keep them fools far away.

Well if you haven't noticed the same government along with the state governments are the one that has fricked it up!

No Congress doesn't need to come in a fix colleges bullshite system
if the judicial branch continues to keep the NCAA and it's conference members from being able to enforce their bylaws, what other alternative is there?

Congressional oversight is the only thing that holds the judicial accountable. Without some constraints, the NCAA and conferences are powerless.

I don't necessarily want the government involved either,

One branch of gov't is already heavily involved. Time for the other two to put them in check!

Scone said today rousse and sankey need to make a deal and i agree.
if the deal is that Sankey drops the SEC's case against our HC, AD, and President and fricks off, and we play players that are now eligible, yes. If not, frick Sankey.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NCAA timed the announcement of the 5 for 5 rule change intentionally, knowing that it would likely create a shite storm that would boost support for Congress to pass the PCSA

Yesterday was the ruse. SEC already knew the result. They weren’t even planning to have to go there but they just went through the motions to get to the rest of it. How many times have they said this isn’t about punishing players.

The real goal is to show conferences are separate from the NCAA in federal court so they can govern themselves. And LSU may be in on it too. It’s the only thing that explains how overboard they went on such a minor distinction as this and LSU showing so much confidence throughout. And 15-0 was for show to cover what they’re up to. The kicking LSU out of the SEC for this was also so ridiculous it has to be seen as a tell.

Of course they did. It was announced the day after the CWS ended. Thus ending all NCAA events for the 2026 Academic year.

Any deal with the SEC at this point needs to include Sankey's resignation as part of it.

Between this fiasco and letting the Big 10 command around 50% higher value per year on their TV rights deals than what the SEC gets, despite the SEC having a deeper roster of nationally relevant programs and having been the dominant conference for 10-15 years leading up to when those TV deals were signed. What has Sankey done to earn his keep? Letting the Big 10 pass us up and now getting into a nasty public fight with LSU over an issue that other member schools were doing the same thing.

The issue is the NCAA fricked up their official rule book and didn’t put any language therein excluding the class of 2022. That’s a major frick up that has only come to light in the past couple of weeks because the NCAA doesn’t make its official rule books public.

Sankey was aware of the rule in general but had never read the language in the official rule book which didn’t have any language excluding 2022 players.

So basically Sankey said “SEC rules say that you have to follow NCAA official rules” and then they caught him on cross examination because the official rules don’t say anything about excluding the 2022 class from 5-5.

They also could have stood by the rule that has been in place for as long as Ive follow college football and once you have declared for the draft, your eligibility is dne. Then none of these players are allowed, atleast thry could have argued in court for actually enforcing their rule equally across all players.

they didnt declare for the draft, their eligibility ran out according to the rules at the time

Im not even for this shite but if yall are going to put things out, atleast have a real understanding.

the wording matters. this wasnt some junior declaring for the draft. it was a senior who ran out of eligibility who was hurt and would have loved to come back for another season, period.

and even if they did that, they fricked up last year with that concerning the alabama bball player who was in the G league.

correct. and it wasnt that sanky hadnt read the original guidance on 5 for 5, it was that he hadnt read the actual official rule that came out within the last week or whatever that had zero language about what class this takes affect on.

and they couldnt just say 2022 class because players like Trinidad graduated high school in 2021
