It’s ridiculous he asked for the number in the first place. It shows zero respect for LSU’s history and traditions.

The “promises” made during recruiting mean shite. You’re making millions of dollars, put on whatever jersey you’re given. You had a decent freshman season, you don’t deserve to wear the number of a Heisman winner.

For the clowns hating on JD5, would y’all be okay had Pickett demanded to wear #9?

Yeah I didn’t think so.

He asked for the number before Jayden won his Heisman and was promised it. That's the number he wore on his recruiting visits, the same season Jayden was playing.

Anyone can wear #9.

It is simply a number.

Hell, put #20 back in the mix as well as far as I’m concerned.

You are a clown.

Joe has professional people advising him so this situation doesn’t come up and it’s different. Joe led us to a title and in a season where he won big games.

Jayden is basically money manziel or RG 3

No. Jayden looks TURRIBLE in all of this and I’m a Skins fan too. Looks weaaaak and selfish. Has to be mom behind all of it but you have to axe this thought down with the quickness.

It’s not.

His number IS NOT retired.

If it is promised to someone else, then issue the number.

The end.

ETA - I corrected the above.

FWIW - I have no issue with them retiring both, but until they do…

You mean this history and tradition of LSU having only retired one number ever?

TYFYS Jayden, but he can kindly frick off.

It is one had the greatest season of all time and helped deliver the ultimate prize. The other lost 3 games and delivered nothing.

Also the only Heisman number actually retired is 20.

That’s irrelevant. He’s been at LSU a year. He should know that number is off limits. Instead, he turned this into a shite show over a recruiting promise.

I wouldn't have a problem with any present or future player wearing any number. You've got shite for brains if you think we should start retiring numbers because a player thinks he was great enough to have his number forever enshrined! It's just a frickin' number, dude!

Daniels doesn’t own the number.
LSU has exactly 1 retired number, 20. That’s only because it was retired in another Era.

Put JDs name on the ring, just like cannon and Casanova, and burrow.

If Casanovas number isn’t retired neither should JD’s number.

Yes absolutely. They can 5, 9, 59 or 95…. I do not care.

If we cut all the kids who

we wouldn’t have a team. They are all here for one reason and one reason only…. We paid them more than the next guy.

Except for Whit Weeks, he’s only here because he’s banging the coach’s daughter.

Okay, hold on bro. Two things can be true.

1. Pickett getting 5 is stupid.
2. JD5 and his camp are being petty and stupid.

Joe would not be this way and his camp would not be this way in that same situation. The vast majority of folks were annoyed with the situation with Pickett but again a promise by the previous staff should be honored. Its not Pickett's fault. This goes back to Kelly and now JD5's camp. Not being able to see that and blaming Pickett is completely ignorant.

This is college football some of the best players ever didn't get their jersey retired. There are too many players. Syracuse' tradition was to give the best running backs number 44. Jimi Brown, Ernie Davis, and Floyd Little. Patrick Peterson, Tyrann mathieu, Grant Delpit, Stingley, Boutte, and many others wore number 7.

You don't have to retire numbers. Now again I think this situation is stupid and the previous staff should've done better with this while also acknowledging that Pickett was promised the number and should be given that number and annoyed with JD5's camp for being petty and entitled.
