Phil Steel preseason SEC rankings, not a believer in LSU at all.

Based on his rankings, he expects LSU to lose 5ish games.

Saw his SEC rankings and he has LSU tied with Tenn for 7th in the SEC and #21 overall. Based on his rankings, he has us losing to UT, OM, aTm, Bama, and Tenn and only being barely ranked above Clemson(#24).
Seems really low on the tigers hearing him talk. Time to prove him wrong.

Those 5 games are all losable games imo, I just don’t see us losing all 5 of them. Seems like he is going with the worst case scenario… Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I’m going to go ahead and disagree with his take.
I think this roster easily has playoff level talent. All it needs is good coaching.
You retained Blake Baker who has had solid defenses.
Lane Kiffin is one of best coaches at throwing together a team. And is arguably the best offense coach in college.
In his last 9 seasons as a HC he has had 5 top 10 total offense seasons (including his first year at FAU). And his worst offense was 32nd.
I’m assuming he is viewing LSU through the lens of the last 6 years. Well, I think there is a high probability things are about to change.

Phil weighs returning production very heavily and has for years. That’s the reason we’re low.
I’m curious where he had Ole Miss last year, I suspect they were very low.

They were #22 because they were only returning 5 starters. I trust Lane above all else to get a ton of new faces up to speed and playing together.

He comes on Moscona’s show every Friday to pick the spreads for each week. I keep track of his picks every week and AT BEST he may go .500. I know you never really know with sports, but It’s pretty crazy how wrong he is week in and week out considering how long he’s been in the college football business.

Yeah, that's a fair take. I think we are capable of losing 6 games if it hits the fan. I think we'll likely drop 3-4. Phil is taking the middle number there.
