Whenever I hear him do radio or podcast guest segments, I wondered why the host never question him about his previous year picks.

I have to wonder if a lot of the talking head podcasters/media guys have the same agents or MGMT companies cause they have some really mentally challenged guests on some time that make zero sense to me. I could probably find out pretty easily but don't care that much, just don't know how some of these people even book interview with their bad takes year in and year out (and I'm not even referring to LSU predictions here, just how far off base they seem to be in general)

Phil Steel preseason SEC rankings

He will be on AFR within the next couple weeks and MM will not challenge him on this.

You retained Blake Baker who has had solid defenses.

Not against teams with elusive running QB's.

Marcel Reed (And Others) give him nightmares every season.

He HAS to fix that!

..but when LSU goes 12-1 and into the CFP, he will cite some BS list where he had LSU as a sleeper pick and how he was right.

Look and see how is last two #1 predictions ended up. His predictions should be banned and/or ignored.

He used to be pretty good. Heard someone say that he leaned heavy on returning players and starters. That just won’t work in the transfer portal era

Those 5 games are all losable games imo, I just don’t see us losing all 5 of them. Seems like he is going with the worst case scenario… Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I think we lose to to:
Ole Miss
Texas
A & M
Tennessee
Maybe Bama

In a year with a pretty stacked SEC, I won't really fault any analysts for picking LSU lower. It's a total guessing game in August, and picking against the team that has a new coach and a bunch of new pieces is always the easiest route for guys like Steele who have to cover so much College Football that they just don't have the time to make any super informed predictions. Steele's great for when I want to know a little bit about teams outside the SEC, but I don't put much stock into his predictions.

The past few years he’s been in love with ND, UGA, OU and Oregon

He always has them as title picks

I guess him picking Notre Dame #1 is a kiss of death.

Good. Historically, when LSU is ranked high in the preseason, we underperform that year. The years that we have doubters is often been some of our best seasons, 2007 withstanding. I think we started that season at #2 in most polls.

2018 was a year where many picked us to go 6-6 and then we stomped Miami in the opener and put a good season together that included a NY6 win.

I remember last year or the year before his top 3 surprise teams all ended up with worse records

Huh? Had them ranked #21. Not bad for a team that finished 7-6 last season.
