It sure doesn't. It's quite a contrast from the last couple of years of Miles when national pundits and former players/coaches were railing LSU for even thinking of firing Miles.
Miles came across as a likable guy. Your “goofy old uncle” type of guy. Orgeron, especially since 2019, has come across as a dick.

even the national guys aren't playing the "OMG he just won a national title card"
You will hear it if things get serious. And it will come from those that wish mediocrity on LSU.

Basically saying, this will get ugly on and off the field before this is over and we get to fully turn the page from this chapter.
Not really. If it's mutually assured destruction, then that makes it easy for them to sit down at the negotiating table and negotiate a buyout. Ed will get some but not all of what he owes and LSU will not get off scot free.

Burrow didn’t help LSU with his Heisman speech as concerns hoping LSU would give Orgeron a lifetime contract.
True, but consider the emotions at the moment.

How good is the LSU job? Both Les Miles and Orgeron, the last two coaches, have won national titles there. And there aren’t a lot of coaches who respect Miles or Orgeron as strategists or leaders. Big characters? Sure. One chews grass and the other runs through campus with his shirt off. Big personalities, definitely. Few are more fun to do impressions of.
Translation: If these two dunderheads can win national championships at LSU, imagine what a REAL coach can do!

I do not want Brian "the screamer" Kelly. No thanks.

Once again LSU gave another thru the roof contract to a coach that wouldn't even be mentioned for another top job had it opened. Now have to find a way to lower buyout. You would think LSU would learn. That Pelini contract was buy far the worse. O's contract is looking pretty bad now since he basically won it with great assistants. Aranda and Brandy will go down as probably top 5 assistants ever at LSU. To Bad O couldnt follow his own rule of bringing in only top assistants.

If I'm putting $100 on someone today, I'm going to tell you someone you're not suspecting...Brian Kelly.
For the love of God, NO!
He is 0-7 against Top 5 teams at Notre Dame.
3-8 against opponents ranked in the top 10 at Notre Dame. Five of the eight losses were by 14 points or more, including that 28-point loss to Alabama in 2012 — the last time Notre Dame played for a national championship.

Don’t worry, you can be a fan of whatever team Orgeron ends up being a position coach of.

This goes to show that this program is a winning program with a ton of homegrown talent that you can sew up.
Given that Les and CEO have won titles shows this, since they were both line coaches and were never coordinators.
But you look at Mullen and Smart who are respected HC's and were coordinators in their field. They are each thought highly of as HC's and as OC/DC respectively.
These guys haven't won titles yet. I would imagine they would be able to here at LSU, if CEO and Miles did. So I agree with this author that this is an amazing job if some decent position coaches can take this talent and get some capable coordinators and pull a title our of their @ss.

This is just sickening. And a dour analysis of the accomplishments, and really failures as well because it’s off the mark. Everyone is envious of Saban……we had Saban. No mention of that here. At Alabama, Saban wasn’t successful early, but the school gave him everything he wanted without question or comment. Not so much at LSU. Didn’t even make that big of a play to keep him. And as a foot note a 17 million dollar buy out wouldn’t pay Saban’s real yearly salary.
RETARD ALERT!

How many of those games were ND favored in?
Notre Dame can't recruit near the level of talent as most of their competition in those games. Notre Dame's best recruiting class the last 3 years finished 9th in the class rankings. LSU's worst finished 5th. ND's average class rank was 14, LSU's average was 4.
Further skewing this record is the fact that ND always gets put in bowl games they have no business being in simply based on their national draw and the fact that they're generally overrated.
If Kelly is 0-7 against the top 5 and 3-8 against the top 10, then does that mean he's 3-1 against teams ranked between 6 and 10? This could indicated that when his teams aren't completely overmatched, he's actually got a pretty good record.
I can't stand Notre Dame, and definitely don't like Kelly's personality, but he's a good coach and I could support him being hired at LSU.

dude was 92-12 at boise. sick win%. he is .795 in his career. took shitty UW to win two pac12 titles and make a playoff game!
he is a great coach. but he has his ways.

nearly $17 million may be more interesting than watching the Tigers on the field this season. All buyouts in modern college athletics are negotiating points. But LSU will be dealing with a stubborn coach who likely wouldn’t get another shot at a high-end pay day. If you think Orgeron will go quietly, remember he quit on USC as the interim and threw a temper tantrum when he didn’t get the full-time job. Orgeron knows only bull rushing.
He will pussy away like a coward and accept a small fraction of the buyout like so many before him. Why? He violated his contract and there are easily non-NCAA violations tied to him as well as those NCAA. Even the smallest like Cregg’s will knock down that buy out. Bowl Ban, etc are all “For Cause” fireable offenses especially when they are combined.
