Just so we're clear, we're blaming NIL for the the team this year?

Quite the leap you made there. I didn’t blame anything or anyone. Simply spreading the news on a topic that has been debated a lot lately.

That is a Tiger Ree/Buckeye Jeaux leap in logic there.

I like the move. WBB should at most be even with baseball at LSU. 75-15-4-4 would leave 2% for the rest. Then get creative with gymnastics, softball, tennis, track, golf, swimming to find some donors. Hell, ask Toms or Burns if they'd like the clubhouse named after them.

I'm happy to let some of these like softball simply fall off. Only so much room on our plate. Worst case go hire a young softball coach who can promote the team, seek donors, and provide some energy.

Casualty in this might be Mulkey walking, but oh well, baseball needs it more if you ask most of the fanbase.

I like this setup as well. I think it’ll be something along those lines.

I just can’t see that happening. They get a lot of outside NIL to help.

I like this for right now, but when Mulkey leaves, I'd make adjustments to WBB.

I still think Jay takes a MLB interview or two

Who is going to interview him?

Prior to this year no manager had ever jumped directly from college baseball to manage an MLB team. It's not like MLB teams are lining up to hire college coaches. Plus, Vitello isn't exactly off to a great start with SF. If that continues, MLB teams will be even less likely to consider hiring a college coach...which was already HIGHLY unlikely.

Jay may want to interview for an MLB job or at least pretend he has an interest in doing so for leverage purposes. The one problem with that is MLB teams don't want to interview him.

I am confused why baseball and WBB are in the same bracket.

Do they generate the same money? Do they have similar operation costs and expenses? Is it based on NIL money? If so, is the NIL really the same for both programs?

I’m not trying to be a dick. I’m really asking what the budget allocation is based on.

This is what will happen, and you will almost certainly be paying the next WBB coach far less too

It’s simply based on what the athletic department prioritizes. They want to support both so they will.

leaving softball and gymnastics about $50-$100k. I can live with that.

You're forgetting track & field, cross country, swimming & diving, golf, tennis, volley ball, beach volley ball, and soccer.

exactly

Baseball is going to be splitting 5% with multiple other teams still, they are just going to get a little more of that 5%. Verge made it clear the only thing being adjusted is the back half 5% , nothing is being taken from football, basketball, or women’s basketball

The rev share thing is completely been blown out of proportion for baseball. It’s marginal and will always be marginal

I interpreted as the Olympic sports will get zero rev share money. They’ll give them more scholarship money instead.
