Looks like a good hire on paper idk wtf some of y'all were expecting, this is probably the best we could do with the disaster Wade left behind.

He’s only 4 years older than Wade. Hopefully a guy who in a perfect world can do well and stay a long time.

true, but what we DON'T want is a mid-major coach who's only had one good year. That could just be a flash-in-the-pan.

McMahon has been at Murray State for 7 years, an either won his conference outright or tied for the championship in 5 of those 7 years.

.697 overall winning percentage
.750 in conference

That's a very good history over a number of years and recruiting classes.

The concern (or maybe just mine) is that Steve Prohm (whose staff McMahon was on prior to being promoted to HC) had an even better winning % at Murray St. He was fired by Iowa St. after last season when he completely bottomed out the program.

That said, I wouldn't mind seeing Prohm on McMahon's staff. He knows Louisiana and the gulf coast/southeast region well. Wade, because of his VA ties was able to bring in a lot of northeast/mid-Atlantic talent. LSU may have to return to more southeast centric recruiting with a new HC.

I mean everyone loves to say how Will Wade went to the tournament 3/5 years here. McMahon has done the same at Murray State.

After McMahon is fired in a few years LSU should circle back to Will Wade.

Wade cheated and got caught. His teams were completely stacked. He was never a great coach.

But you can never know how these mid-major coaches are going to translate to a bigger job

Somewhat similar situation to Wade's. Capel, Grant, and Smart had more success at VCU, and all had failed at the big jobs they had springboarded to.

If confirmed, I say “welcome aboard!” And look forward to brighter days at LSU basketball.
No more investigation and no more internal issues with Wade’s personality rubbing people the wrong way.

Oh… and I expect wins .

1 bottom of the first round pick so far. Perhaps Eason goes in the first round this year.

That’s not “completely stacked”.

He was just now getting the real big recruits to look at LSU (see what was supposed to be next year’s class).

No question. But Shaka's spotlight hadn't dimmed yet at Texas when Wade was hired.

You people are hilarious with your undying love of little willie. Of course he could recruit he was paying kids and their families hundreds of thousands of dollars out of his own checking account.

Um, yes he was and anyone who says otherwise is a frickin moron.

The ncaa had a hardon for him and hes gone, is what it is, but to try and rewrite history and say he wasnt a good coach just proves you have an agenda.
