The preventative measures are cloudy because the studies self contaminate. Training methods have changed drastically, quickly. Strength & flexibility have improved across the board. Pitchers are throwing harder than ever.

Just as they started to really focus on pitch counts, these training methods became popular. So present day diagnosis is hard. The most basic principle of arm injuries is if you are throwing a baseball at max effort, you are in the crosshairs. And the more pitches you throw the more chances you have to injure. Read James Andrew’s website & what he says about over use, rest, pitching consecutively, etc.

Did y’all hear what K Peterson said towards the end of today’s game (or right after it)?? He sort of said it under his breath. I remember Ben saying the same kind of thing about 2 months ago talking about his draft experience. Paraphrasing, KP said, I’m willing to bet there will be other forces at play tomorrow when Johnson has to decide if/when Skenes pitches and for how long.

Oh absolutely. Money is involved now. He has advisors who are talking to teams who will try and leverage him on this. You bet it

No it won’t.

I guess time will tell.

Truth is if the training staff says he can’t go he won’t pitch. No coach will overrule medical personnel if they want to continue coaching

One guys season ends tomorrow, some of the others are hoping to pitch thru October.

Doesn't that change things?

Lance Lynn by no means is a workhorse.

If you get 6 innings out of him, consider yourself lucky. He's just one of those pitchers without any effective out pitch so his count gets up there quickly.

Paul has 1 more day of baseball.

No he doesn’t.

He has years and years of baseball left.

In fact he has many more days of baseball left THIS SUMMER.

He just has one more day of baseball left that YOU care about.

Those pitch counts are staggering.

Jay screwed the pooch with the CG vs Tulane.

Against Wake Forest on short rest Skenes touched 100 mph only about a dozen times.

But he did touch 100 suggesting he was capable of throwing that hard, but was conserving his arm.

And I believe getting to game 3 of the CWS finals encourages them to come

I'd love to hear Wes Johnson's thoughts about Skenes pitching tomorrow and his thoughts about MLB pitches on 3 days' rest.

Interesting note: in 2016 Jay Johnson let Bobby Dalbec throw 331 pitches in three starts in the CWS.

He even had him start the winner-take-all game.

All three starts were on 4-days rest:

6/20/2016 vs Oklahoma St - 122 pitches
6/25/2016 vs Oklahoma St - 102 pitches
6/30/2016 vs Coastal Carolina - 107 pitches (in the winner-take-all game)

LINK

Though, Dalbec wasn't drafted as an MLB pitcher.

All of those guys on the list also have 3 more months of baseball to play. Win or lose, Skenes will be shut down for awhile.

If he feels good enough to go, then I would send him out there with the expectation he gets through the lineup one time.
