Expecting him to throw a normal outing is kinda crazy imo

I don’t think anyone expects him to do that or at least I hope not

I don’t expect that, but I do think Skenes is a thoroughbred. He might just be a freak of nature, soooo….

I wouldn’t expect his body to be able to throw a normal outing as successful as normal. But I 100% don’t believe giving him the ball and letting him throw til his production falls off increases his injury risk at all

I am a data driven human being. The data is emotionless, it doesn’t lie over time.

I agree and think he’ll start and pitch as long as he’s effective. I think that will be in the 60-80 pitches range. If he can give us that (4-5) innings, that would be amazing

MLB starters are getting 30+ starts a year.

No one really jumps into the mlb and starts to make 30/GS in a season.

Teams are very careful with guys that will go from college into pro ball in the same season. The same way they will be careful with young players jumping from AA to mlb (ie Eury Perez or Bibee).

All that said, Skenes has been conditioned to pitch once every week since February. What he is doing now is abnormal to his body.

Now show me the list of those who have a shot to win a World Series and ask me their pitch counts in that game. They will be the same as Skenes tomorrow

Amd all of this has done nothing to reduce injuries, it just hasn’t

You should hold pitchers back based on production/how they feel, but holding them back just because has proven doesn’t help. It’s “doing something just do do something”. It’s the equivalent of wearing a mask while you wait in a restaurant just to take it off while you sit

This is true. I actually expect whoever drafts Skenes to shut him down for the rest of this season. Which IMO makes him pitching tomorrow even less threatening to his future and/or health. He’ll have until February of next year before he reports to spring training and all off-season to recuperate

Skenes’ World Series is July 9th when someone is going to pay him $9mil to play baseball

Then Skenes can tell Jay he doesn’t want to pitch. But anything other than that Jay should pitch him until his production shows different

World Series, they would pitch as much as they can

they start 1, 4 and 7.

mickey lolich went 3 games for the tigers because the #1 McClain had chased 30 wins and was useless for the ws.

Pitching injuries happen for multiple reasons. Overuse is one of them.

Overuse over sustained periods of time. Skenes is about to have a two month break

Yes but he isn’t throwing curveballs or pitches that are hard on your arm. It helps but i doubt he pitches tomorrow

Not sure it matters but Skenes’s stamina is better than most big leaguers. He’s a fricking unicorn. What that means for tomorrow. I dunno

No medical expertise, simply following the actual data we have from millions of pitches thrown over decades. The pitch count era has done nothing to reduce injuries

Your feelings and emotions on a situation don’t change data

how about during the MLB World Series? Doesn't the ace throw games 1,4, and 7?

Yes, and when they do that, they have thrown far more innings than skenes has during this season….

What Lester presented is comparing an apple to a space satellite
