They will not fire him, even though the program has slipped the last few years.

Despite some recruiting fails the last few years, this freshmen class is elite.

I believe the talking point will soon shift to “the next few years are going to be bright”. And that it will be pushed that he deserves to see it thru. Covid will surely be used as a crutch, knowing Paul.

The big question is, is he tired? Recent interview with Worsham gave me the feeling that he may not coach thru the end of his contract. But who knows

Maybe he is tired, biggest question is from what? It’s not like he does anything. He doesn’t recruit, he doesn’t handle pitching, he doesn’t handle hitting. He doesn’t even know what his players can or can’t do.

Woodward isn't firing him after this year but I think there is a decent chance he retires

Especially if we only win 10 or so SEC games

My wish is he retired after this season for health reasons.

ETA: not wanting him to get sick. Just use that for an excuse to retire gracefully.

Hopefully CPM retires. This year has been hard to watch.

Well that's a really shitty thing to wish, but don't let me stop you from being a massive dickbag.

Why can't you simply wish that he retires because he realizes that he lost his passion for coaching, and realizes that it would be better for him and LSU if he steps down?

Surgeries

His father and father figure, Tommy Lasorda passing away.

I think the stress of the game and pressure the fanbase puts on him doesn't help either

He hasn't won enough championships to have that right. He's no Skip

My biggest concern with Paul is he looks way too emotional. Like with his age the pressure is way too high. It seems like every pitch and hit he is way too high or way too low. The rant can act like this but your head coach can’t. Might be rubbing off on the players. He’s got a young team with a lot of talent, coach needs to calm down a bit IMO. This tells me he’s thinking about hanging it up soon

Has never been the same after his father passed away. Seems he is grief stricken and can't move on???

Sorry, it came off wrong. Just saying use that as an excuse.
I don’t want him to get sick.

He looks worn out and unhealthy these last few weeks.

You have to make your trolling a little more subtle

I didn't take what he said like this, but I can see how you could now.

I really believe he meant retire now before the stress of it declines his health. Just use it as a reason to retire and not be fired.

I don't know if Paul will ever be the same since his father's passing. Maybe he will, but IDK. That still has to hurt.

They can force retirement. He still gets money and he gets to rest.

He looks like he is about to cry after every strike out by batter and walk by the pitcher. Last Sunday after beating State he said that was a “must win” game. How else would you describe it?

The media has hardly ever put pressure on him. I think you’ll start to hear some stuff after this start. But it’s not enough to fire him after this season.

The Covid season helped cause that team was going to be bad. So he escaped criticism for that. So if the media is just finally going to catch on, it’s still too early in that game to force a move.

The problem is, if the trend continues, they won’t remain elite. And I have little reason to believe the trend won’t continue.
