...or they could use this move to reinvent themselves and become insane programs, especially Texas.

That was the biggest narrative that these two teams are just going to fade out. Both are historically top 10 programs and both are top 6 revenue, and just had top four recruiting classes and A+ facilities
If anything, this is a shot in the arm to them

They will both be in the top 3rd in the SEC

I’m concerned about Texas. I know you all think they’re “not gonna mess with the sec” and all this bullshite, but I’m afraid they’re gonna frick everything up. They have too much money, which begets too much power. This whole fricking thing is a massive mistake.

Good article on the scheduling going forward. Nothing written in stone yet, but here's SI's example:
"Several months ago, we took our best guess at the three permanent opponents for each team. We based these on three things: (1) primary and secondary rivalries; (2) geography; and (3) creating as much equity as possible."
Alabama: Auburn; Tennessee; LSU
Arkansas: Missouri; Texas; Kentucky
Auburn: Alabama; Georgia; South Carolina
Florida: Georgia; South Carolina; Oklahoma
Georgia: Auburn; Florida; Kentucky
Kentucky: Mississippi State; Arkansas; Georgia
LSU: Ole Miss; Texas A&M; Alabama
Mississippi State: Ole Miss; Kentucky; Texas A&M
Missouri: Oklahoma; Arkansas; Vanderbilt
Oklahoma: Texas; Missouri; Florida
Ole Miss: Mississippi State; LSU; Vanderbilt
South Carolina: Florida; Auburn; Tennessee
Tennessee: Vanderbilt; Alabama; South Carolina
Texas: Oklahoma; Texas A&M; Arkansas
Texas A&M: LSU; Texas; Mississippi State
Vanderbilt: Tennessee; Ole Miss; Missouri."

The SEC was already by far America’s best conference at twelve teams, and still would be today
I liked the conference better at 10 teams. Now with 10, you could play a true round-robin football and baseball, and play a home-and-home with everyone in basketball every year like the old days.
But money does the driving. That horse left the barn 30+ years ago.

Why UCLA and/or USC, and not Rice or S. Alabama? It seems there would be more money in the high profile contests with the two West Coast powers.

You think its a mistake for the SEC, as a money making entity, to bring in Texas? I mean it might bite us in the arse but for the conference its pretty damn great as far as the bottom line goes. Traditions have gone out of the window and now we just have to deal with it.

I wouldn’t assume this. Have you been seeing how Texas has been recruiting? We all assumed A&M and mizzou would get killed out the gate also but they came in and won right away.
IMO, the teams this will hurt the most are the middle of the pack guys like Ole Miss and Arkansas. It’s going to knock them down a peg. It won’t affect the Bama’s LSU’s and Georgia’s of the world.
It might make the most sense to just stick OU in the East with UT as their crossover. Move to 9 conf games. That would mean minimal impact for all current members.

You bet your arse Woodward will fight hard to make sure the first game in the LSU Texas SEC series will be played at LSU. I trust him that he will get it done.

USC or UCLA will get moved/dropped.
It will be UCLA that gets dropped so LSU loses a home game.
Question: With UT becoming a conference opponent, won't LSU will make less for the home game than if it were non-conference? Plus we can't put their band in the upper deck like they did us.

Oklahoma and Texas will be bottom feeders. I say put Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas atm in our pod so we can dominate every year.

Yeah. The SEC paid it.

They owned the Big12 because nobody else was on their level. They were bigger than the entire conference. That is not the case with the SEC. Texas A&M has a ton of money too and they haven't taken over.
In terms of how the league treats members, the SEC is MUCH more equitable than the Big 12 ever was.

Will this affect "Baseball" first, as in the 2024 Baseball Season or would it wait until "Football"?
