For all the old people like me, the 1981 Tulane - LSU game in the Dome.
LSU lost 48-7 in only the third LSU loss to Tulane in over 30 years.
A dark memory.

2012 Alabama. I don’t think I’ve ever been as sick after a loss as I was for that one
LSU and Alabama programs went completely different directions after that loss

If we are talking basketball give me the 2015 tournament game against NC State back.
I was there and raged so hard after that loss I couldn’t believe it

I'd probably go with the basketball regional final loss to Indiana in 1987.
It would have been quite something to see LSU at the Final Four in the Dome, and they were playing great basketball all through the tournament (until the last 5 minutes of that game).

Was at both the 2012 and 2014 Alabama games. In 2014, the PA announcer asked people to not storm the field with a minute left in the game. I couldn’t believe it. Of course we all know what happened next.
ETA: We weren’t as good in 2014, and I kind of saw it coming. 2012 still makes me sick, so I’ll say that one.

'88 at Ohio State. Up 33-20 w/4:29 left in the game. LSU was ranked 7th at the time with impressive wins vs Texas A&M (27-0) and at Tennessee (34-9). The loss left LSU w/a hangover as they lost the following week 19-7 at Florida. If we beat OSU, I think we carry that momentum the following week and beat Florida as well. End up 10-1 regular season and outright SEC champions. No way we beat Miami that year in Tiger Stadium no matter what lol.

LSU wins that game without attempting a single forward pass in the second half.

If 1/9 doesn't count, then I would go for 2006 at Auburn.
That 2006 team was clearly one of the best teams in the country and probably would've smoked Troy Smith and OSU. I also would have loved to have had a rematch with Florida in the SECCG after all the home cooking they got in Gainesville which just kept killing our momentum and made the final score look much worse than it really was.
If we beat Auburn in 2006, we are 11-1 going into the SEC Championship game (and we were #5 in the BCS in real life at the end of the regular season and #4 after the SECCG week). We are #2 in the BCS with a win and get to play for the title in Phoenix.
OFC the sting of that season went away pretty quickly considering we smoked Notre Dame in New Orleans and then won it all the next year

2006 was a better football team than 2007-- statistically better offensively and defensively. The loss to Auburn, in particular, was inexcusable. LSU was a much better team than Auburn that year.

I just hate the fact that my only road games as a student were:
06 Auburn
06 Florida
07 Tulane
08 Auburn
08 Arkansas
09 Bama
frickin 2-4 on road games as a student. But I was at the 07 SECCG, 06-07 Sugar Bowl, and 07-08 NCG so I have that going for me

Many of the LSU Bama games between 2008-2018. There were a couple national championships there if LSU could have gotten over the hump.

There are many, but I will stick with my first, earliest heartbreaking loss memory as a very young Tiger cub - Nov. 1, 1969 in Jackson.
Unbeaten 6-0 and 5th-ranked LSU led Ole Miss and Archie Manning early in the 4th quarter 23-12. Ole Miss came back and took the lead 26-23. LSU drove to the Ole Miss goal line in the waning seconds. Coach Mac disdained a 4th down short field goal to tie and went for a 4th down pass that was batted away. Ole Miss won 26-23, in a loss that would come back to haunt the Tigers.
LSU would finish 9-1, and accepted an invitation to the Cotton Bowl to play #1 Texas. But 8-2 11th ranked Notre Dame decided to end their 40-year bowl drought and Texas quickly reneged on LSU and took Notre Dame, ruining a chance for LSU to be in the NC conversation had they beaten Texas.
The players turned down an invitation to the Bluebonnet Bowl and finished 9th at 9-1.
Adding insult to injury, the next year they played ND at South Bend and lost 3-0 after a dropped LSU interception allowed ND to kick the winning FG. The national news headlines actually stated 'If Notre Dame is #1, LSU is #1A.'
We got revenge in DV the following year in 1971 on national TV over ND 28-8.

A low key good answer is 06 Florida. Could we have been champs?

Normally I’m against the phrase “and it’s not even close” but damn this is a time to use it.
LSU wins that game, they certainly go on to stomp ND and win the Title.
