This, this, all this. We win that one, 1/9 is considered a fluke, they don’t start living rent-free in our heads for the next 7 years.
What sickened me when I finally went back and watched the ending (deleted it from DVR the second I trudged back from the Stadium) we threw the ball with the lead all the way down the field - they couldn’t cover Beckham and Landry.
Then when we need one more 1st to win we run it 3 times. When we knew they had figured out our 2min defense.
On our last offensive 3rd down, the way they were selling out for the run, you can never convince me that a throw to 80 or 3 wouldn’t have resulted in a 1st down, TD, or DPI.

He didn't use the clock well at all either. He might have been better off coffin-corner punting inside the 5 yard line than missing a FG and giving them the ball at the 30. Because even if he makes the FG, Bama would still only needed a TD and they could have started from the 25.
Agree with all of this. Playing for the FG made no sense - the only thing making it would have done was give them an extra down in the backs of their minds.
Although instead of punting I’m using 4 downs to win the game.

“which” notwithstanding, strong premise for a good post.
But then…

which loss would you like to have back
For me it’s 2018 A&M 7 OT game
That game was historic and was a wild fun ball game
Honorable mentions
2007:Kentucky
2007:Arkansas
2009:Penn State
2012:Clemson
2014:Notre Dame
Holy crap man. There are easily seven or eight games more heartbreaking than any game on your list. Probably 10 or more in fact.
Arky 2007 was rough at the time but just one week later we forgot all about it. Then you end it with three meaningless bowl games?

1959 Tennessee 7. LSU 6
Cannon crossed goal line on 2 pt conversation but Ref signaled no score.

2019 erased 1/9/12 for me. I’d like to get the W at Florida with Jamarcus. We win the title that year if we win that game. The 2012 regular season game vs Bama though was probably the second biggest kick in the nads after 1/9/12 so maybe that one on second thought. It’s those two and the bullshite field goal block at Auburn that we got screwed out of. Those are the top 3 for me.
We win 2012 vs Bama if Honey Badger isn’t kicked off the team. He finds Yeldon and probably strips him for a fumble return 6. I’m also pretty sure I never saw the jumping over the back penalty called on anyone but LSU that season vs Auburn. Just like the Brad Wing taunting vs Florida.
Actually 06 was worse than 04 against Auburn.
Top 5
1. Bama 12
2. Auburn 06
3. Florida 06
4. Tenn 05-was there, ridiculous to blow a 21 point halftime lead at home, hottest night game ever at Tiger Stadium
5. Auburn 04

Wisconsin 2016 in Green Bay.
It kind of ruined the rest of the season for me.

This. I hadn’t been in the dome since that awful night, and 1/13/20 was the perfect catharsis.
Also, we just got boned by a stupid system. What hurts about 2012 is it wasn’t the BCS or the refs we just fricking choked the biggest home game since 07 UF.

2010 Auburn
We could have beaten South Carolina and Oregon.

That Clemson game was tough. Good lord that was the worst of Les miles. Which says a lot

Why has 2014 Alabama not gotten more mentions?. I get that team already had couple loses but lsu got the fumble and had first and goal from the 6 with 1:12 remaining. Losing that game just few years after 1/9/12 and 11/3/12 was crushing.

Was this the game of the phantom unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the fumble.
Posted on 8/15/23 at 6:53 pm to AlecRock23
That's easy.
Football is 1/9/12
Baseball is CWS game 2 against Florida from a few years ago
Basketball is any final four game, same for WBB.
Go big or go home.

What about 2010 Arkansas?
LSU's 2010 football team was seriously overrated. The Tigers that year were EXTREMELY lucky to win games vs N. Carolina, Tennessee and Florida. That game with Auburn that year was in no way as close as the final score indicated, as Auburn rushed for over 400 yards and LSU scored its final TD on a halfback option pass. Also, LSU lost @ Arkansas 31-22 in ugly fashion. They weren't that good, and Jordan Jefferson's stellar performance in the Cotton Bowl was the exception, not the rule for this QB.

Because if we beat Auburn, LSU is 7-1 with a tiebreaker over 7-1 Auburn and 6-2 Arkansas stays home while LSU rolls South Carolina.

I’ll put aside the obvious choice 2012 natty.
2006 Auburn. We win that game and we’re in the SECCG looking to avenge our only loss to Florida with a NC game berth (and likely win over OSU) on the line. What could have been

Go back and watch LSU v Auburn. It wasn't really a close game, in spite of the 24-17 final score. LSU was always playing from behind, and Auburn killed the clock on their last drive with about a 70 yard, 5 minute drive. LSU never got the ball back after their last punt with over 5 minutes left, trailing by seven.
That Tiger team was EXTREMELY lucky to finish 10-2 and make the Cotton Bowl. They could easily have been 7-5 and looking for a Les replacement at the end of that season.

1/9/12 to 11/3/12 was 295 days of absolute misery thinking about never crossing the 50 yd line, being completely embarrassed in the dome against Saban. Then to have the game going our direction in the 4th quarter in Tiger Stadium to avenge the loss earlier only to have the screen pass to Yeldon rip our hearts out. Gut wrenching……

Yes we did. Went 4 and out with a grand total of 6 yards. Ended with Lee trying to scramble on 4th and long.
