Berry needs more opportunities to prove himself. He’s a five-star running back, and if we don’t get him on the field, Frank Wilson could lure him away. Before long, Berry might be playing for Ole Miss.
re: Sam Leavitt Will Get Better

I’m not sold on Leavitt getting better. First half he looked like a deer in the headlights. He’s off target on way too many throws. Yeah, he can escape and make plays with his legs, but he runs like he thinks he’s a linebacker. He leaves his body wide open to some serious shots. Keep running like that in the SEC and eventually somebody is going to make him pay. I’d be surprised if he makes it through the season without getting banged up.
Is this really worth it for LSU?
Even if LSU has a court injunction allowing these former NFL players to play, at some point you have to consider the bigger picture. The CFP Selection Committee is made up of ADs, former coaches and players, including people with strong ties to other SEC programs.
If LSU is sitting on the playoff bubble in December, do we really want the committee debating whether LSU knowingly pushed the rules to gain an advantage?
Maybe LSU ultimately wins the legal fight. But is adding a couple of players worth creating a controversy that could hang over the entire season and potentially become a factor when the committee is comparing LSU to another 10-2 or 11-1 team?
I’m starting to wonder if the potential reward is worth the risk.

re: Tom Mars gives his explanation of why he is saying the Conferences will ultimately win

Calling Tom Mars “not that bright” is a stretch given his track record in NCAA eligibility cases. And saying there’s “no avenue” to federal court is way too absolute.
I agree timing favors the players if they get an injunction. But the SEC doesn’t have to wait months or years for a final ruling, it can appeal and seek a stay of the injunction. That’s the real battle if they want to stop this during the season.

I’m not saying LSU is currently breaking the rules. The SEC commissioner has already put out a statement on this. Yes, the rules are vague and hazy, but if the NCAA and SEC allow players cut from NFL teams to simply return to college, it opens the floodgates. They’re going to have to draw a line somewhere, and I don’t want LSU to be the school they make an example of. I’m just saying it’s not worth the risk with a CFP run on the line

I’m an LSU fan, but this feels like a bridge too far. Bringing in players who have signed NFL contracts could trigger NCAA or SEC investigations, ineligibility, vacated wins, fines, roster restrictions, or postseason penalties, potentially jeopardizing LSU’s CFP hopes. Is it worth risking the season, the program’s reputation, and a playoff berth?

It is what it is. Pay the buyouts and put this in the rearview mirror. Our team doesn’t need any distractions heading into fall camp. It’s a bad look for both us and Ole Miss.

It’s just a joke.
Coach Kiffin and Coach O’s pregame hype video

Leavitt is a big question mark with his health. How quickly he can gel with our receivers will determine the season.
I am cautiously optimistic, but we are starting to sound like TAMU when they hired Jimbo.
Thanks, for the catch.
re: Hiring Brian Kelly

I was all in on the Brian Kelly hire. I felt it was the first good coach we had brought in after a long time. I don’t think his lack of success was due to coaching ability, he just could never assemble a strong offense and defense at the same time. When there was pushback, his ego would get in the way. I worry the same thing could happen with Kiffin. Deep down, I wish we had Mike Elko as our coach.
