Trying to sue a college kid for a buyout isn’t the right play.

I hear you, but once these ‘kids’ sign contracts for money, they are now adults in the ‘real world’. Welcome to it! You have a contract, you abide by it. You can’t just go picking and choosing what provisions you want to comply with. I bet if the school quit paying, you just expect the ‘kids’ to be ok with that?

Contracts are made to be broken. The question is one of remedy - how was Ole Miss damaged by them leaving in a provable in court sense? There may be a provision that says "you owe $X" if you leave but there is no precedent for courts enforcing those provisions and very well may be unenforceable as a matter of law - that is the game of chicken being played.

I thought that these NIL deals couldn't be tied to playing for or being enrolled at a school. If that's true, why and how are there buyouts?

If they keep concentrating on LSU, they’ll be 0-2 come game time

I have absolutely no problem with Ole Miss trying to get money that they are contractually owed, if that is in fact the case.

If they are simply "college kids," they would not be getting paid the big bucks.
If they signed a contract, they should be expected to live up to the contracts. Why have buy out clauses if they mean nothing?
I am happy for the athletes who get paid; however, they need to realize they are really professionals when they sign the contracts.

They must be the only 2 players to leave Ole Miss while under Rev Share contracts.

They are going from Lane kiffin to the drunk from Hammond. And they CoULD have offered Weiss but were too but hurt!! You can’t make this shite up.
If Kiffin wasn’t at LSU he would have taken the Florida job. He was out if there no matter what. Major miracle he stayed 6 years.

For me, it's not so much that they are wanting to collect their contract money back. These kids have been gone since February, why are you waiting until July to start discussing this?

If you look at their schedule their is a real chance they could go 7-5 or 8-4

That honeymoon is about to be short lived. Talk about being born on 3rd, more like halfway to home.

The timing is calculated.

Two things:

They want it brought up during media days next week to make LSU look bad.

They want it to distract from the questions they are going to get about the Clemson transfer.

I'll bet they probably aren't confident these "buyouts" are enforceable and would rather LSU pay the money to make the story go away. If it were a simple legal matter, file the claim and move on.

Runt behavior

I hate to say it, but I think they are going to be really good this season. The schedule is much tougher than in 2025, but they wouldn't trade QBs with anyone, and that matters. They upgraded several positions via the portal.

Louisville and LSU are must wins for them. Trip up there, and it could get ugly.

I think what you'll see is a steady decline under Pete. It was easy to pass the hat around after Lane left them, and they made a playoff run. When they have to do it again after the Music City Bowl and Texas Bowl that's where things start slipping. Then they'll ask themselves, why did we hire Pete Golding to take over a program that won 52 games in 5 seasons?

LSU should pay it . . . entirely in loose pennies.

I doubt the contract states the payment has to be in a check. Although they aren't producing new pennies, they are still legal tender and would satisfy a required payment.

Have fun counting and rolling the 100 million loose pennies that we send you Ole Piss.

Ole Miss had 21 players transfer out. Are they going after others or just two of the four that went to LSU.

Of the 21 transfers, they were the only two who signed revenue sharing contracts.
