Tailgating has definitely been hammered the last 20 years, but are we bitching because they are going to build a new dorm? That’s what you have to do when enrollment increases.

I’m glad I moved my family away. They started ruining our tailgating bit by bit. The shitty weather started getting even shittier. Then there was 2016 shooting that quickly turned into a race issue and ultimately led to a retaliatory shooting and killing of law enforcement officer(s). I’m so thankful we got the f_ck out of that shithole city.

This is stupid. They were paying freshmen last year to live at home because they didn’t have enough housing on campus. So they are building more dorms. Why in the world would anyone think this is bad?

Actually some in the AD believe reducing the number of tailgates will keep people in TS longer. Some have suggested shutting down tailgates at halftime and enforce open containers on campus at halftime as incentive to keep people in TS and reduce drunk driving.

I just came trhrough there a few days ago and I was surprised to see the construction zone fenced off along Burbank. I dont know if that is dorms or what but you are correct... a lot of close parking gone.

So who pays for repairs that need to be done to campus after the game? Trash pickup? Repairs to sod areas? Replacement or materials that the public just decides to destroy?

The administration isn’t banking money for parking at athletic events. That’s controlled by the athletic department. They have to generate as much revenue as possible. Everything is monetized with gameday. LSU is not the originator of this plan. We were one of the very last to adapt to it

The lifeblood of a university is undergraduate applicants. Tailgating is a small piece of what makes a student apply to LSU. Student life and housing accommodations are a much larger factor in that equation.

Thats about the time half again as manypeople without game tickests began showing up on campus to participate in tailgating.
