We can be Petty every now and then.

I remember. Their players were walking a cat skeleton on a leash. frick them

i don’t understand this board hating on the Tom Petty thing. i think it’s cool, and have been in the Swamp for it.
This board seems to think only LSU traditions are cool, but all others suck. Personally, i like other schools’ traditions — it’s what makes college football special.
I mean, college football exists outside of Baton Rouge.

As long as it’s free falling. I will allow it.

I bet they never have another T Petty game

Free falling would be a great choice

Yeah, ONE of their fans. They did not put it on their scoreboard. So one of teir fans has no class. If we played that at our stadium, then our whole program would have no class.

After having shite thrown @ me and the wife last night frick Florida and frick class. We should drive an lsu mobbed out f250 next time in their stadium and peel out on the 50 dragging truck nuts across their field blasting neck during their stupid arse tom petty tribute.

That’s funny...I’ve heard that story dozens of times about different fans. I guess what I’m saying is...

Man I go to road games every year. I cheer when we score and do well but I try to stay fairly reserved knowing I’m at “their stadium”. I’m not the typical college aged obnoxious a-hole looking to piss their fans off. But when you start throwing stuff @ me and my family all bets are off.

Florida never seemed to give a shite when Petty was actually alive. Now that he's dead, it's suddenly a big fricking deal. It all feels so contrived as a new "tradition". That's what's annoying people.

I had this conversation last night. I despise Florida way more than any other school.
Do whatever you can to make fun of then.

I don’t believe you
A Chicago Bears fan definitely had a Katrina signwhen they played the Saints. It’s not too hard to believe people said it because it got a lot of publicity.
I’m all for taking away the mojo of an opponent by stealing and mocking their traditions. I wish LSU would declare Tom Petty Day for Ole Miss and play Don’t Back Down in the fourth quarter. It might give fans a reason to stay.
I also would love to see the Golden Band learn The Kids Aren’t Alright before the USC game in Vegas. Dexter Holland is a USC grad and he conducts the band while they play it. Video of USC band performance - bonus Song Girls

I mean, did Alex Box get the baseball stadium named for him while he was alive?
Arthur Ashe tennis stadium in New York. Nile Kinnick stadium in Iowa. Hartsfield-Jackson airport here in Atlanta. The list goes on and on and on.
Tom Petty was from Gainesville and had a song with lyrics that are a fit for a football team.
I mean, this board loves "Calling Baton Rouge" when it's played in Tiger Stadium, sung by a guy from Oklahoma.
It's ok for the Gators to like "I Won't Back Down" sung by a Gainesville native.
