Invest in mustard stocks

Affect = verb [1]
- Means to influence or change something.
- Example: “The rain can affect your mood.”

Effect = noun [2]
- Means a result or outcome.
- Example: “The effect of the rain was a calmer day.”

Shortcut:
If you need a verb, use affect.
If you need a noun, use effect.

*rare exceptions, but this works 99% of the time

Edit, more examples:
Affect: (to influence/change)
- “The rumor that Lane Kiffin will accept the LSU job today has affected the mood of the entire fanbase.”
- “Kiffin’s expected move could affect LSU’s recruiting class immediately.”
- “News of Kiffin’s potential hire affected how other candidates approached the search.”

Effect: (the result/outcome)
- “The biggest effect of Kiffin reportedly taking the LSU job is a surge of hype across Baton Rouge.”
- “One effect of the rumor is that other SEC teams are suddenly on alert.”
- “If Kiffin accepts the job, the long-term effect on LSU’s offense could be yuuuuge.”

- Affect = action (Kiffin’s decision influences things)
- Effect = end result (what happens because he takes the job)

Footnotes:
[1] Noun:
If you can name it/be it, it’s a noun.

LSU (these two are proper nouns, but still nouns)
