Matte helmets and LED lights are the future gramps.

I don't care too much, son. I just thought his point was funny, after I had to do a search to see what everyone was talking about here, as I hadn't seen any pics yet.

This board does more hand wringing over uniform changes than just about anything else in the universe.
Who cares. Just win.
Who cares. Just win.

Gloss will return later. Current trend is matte.

Matte helmets are cleaner looking. I’m glad they brought these back. I loved the Easton matte helmets LSU wore for a few years under CPM.

Doesn't matter as much for baseball, but for contact sports like football you can argue its a safety concern. Matte finishes tend to be more sticky during collisions, while glossier finishes deflect or slide off contact a lot more. Basically what that means is matte could result in more head injuries.
You need to stop drinking glossy paint.

Nobody is committing to LSU, or not committing to LSU, depending upon how shiny our helmets are. Nobody is going to transfer out of LSU depending upon how shiny our helmets are.
Alabama football had the #1 recruiting class nearly ever year for 15 years or so with the stodgiest, stalest, most outdated uniforms in the NCAA.

The matte matches the purple better. Both are fine to me.

If not, why don't we just go the "Penn State" route and make our uniforms as dull and bland as possible?
Because people care about good looking uniforms, just like people like to wear nice looking clothes.

People who make choices in the marketplace based on what is "in" and what is "out" are just suckers waiting to be taken.

Honestly I don't mind it. I would agree with you if they were like the Gold football helmets. Purple looks good with the matte. Gold would not.

This fanbase will complain about anything.

I could care less, just win baby.

So does Oregon only get concussions when they bring out their matte helmets? Is that why they rotate helmet styles so often? Wow
