what is your definition of "not good for the game?"

John “Hot Plate” Williams was an incredible talent and is most definitely a top 10 all time LSU player and also one of my favorite players. JW was a man among boys on the court.
Seems Daddy Dale might have made some “strong-arse offers” back in the day, especially to get someone like Williams out of California.
JW was also a decent 3 Card Guts player until his last week before the draft. I was working as a Bellman at the Sheraton when Dale and Ron Abarnathy brought John in on a recruiting visit. John had lunch with a hot chick while Ron and Dale sat in the lobby. Rules back then were they couldn't buy his lunch. Those on here who have WDS should sit out of any arguments about eligibility. If you are a true LSU fan you just want to have an entertaining and competitive team to watch. This NCAA BS will work itself out eventually. Let the General work the system to our advantage and watch everyone else whine.

I think any of the international rules would have to go into effect next year. The portal is closed, guys have made decisions, rosters have been set… unless they want a giant lawsuit they will have to grandfather them in.

NCAA trying to hurry up and make Wade's players ineligible
if stuff like this is allowed to stand if it becomes rule and the now fake controversy over Lane's Vanity Fair comments, it confirms that there is a conspiracy between the NCAA, SEC, and national sports media against LSU and a clear double-standard. frick em LSU against the world baby!

Packing college basketball rosters with foreign pro players is not good for the game. Not at all.
The NCAA made its bed here with slow and uneven application of their own crappy rules against players that should have been eligible. That forced players to file lawsuits and injunctions to play.
Then someone realized, well if they can do that for eligible players, why not fringe eligibile players?
Now it's the Wild West where people are testing the limits to see how far the insanity will go.

All will be here outside of RJ Luis Jr.
I hope they try to get RJ Luis eligible and get denied by the NCAA just so they can deny someone. They have to allow LSU to field a team so they’ll have to deal with the others for 1 year.

That’s what I was thinking. They have to let us field a team… the move to a ruling seems too late.

It seems like the SEC bball commish is indicating they may initially count international pro play against the 5 year clock as a compromise for this upcoming season. If so, I think all the guys should be good with the possible exception of Yam Madar. Sounds like the play there is a waiver due to military service, which would not be easy to deny based on precedent.
It's going to be nerve wracking having to wait until much closer to the season to get these guys approved but it will likely turn out ok for all of them.
Obviously RJ Luis is a different deal.

These new guidelines wont matter for this year. They would have needed this in place months ago.

The NCAA has lost in court at almost every turn. That's why if find it ironic Mascona's take on the St. John guy that "it's a rule so if they challenge the rule I'll go after WW, Rouse and Verge".
Irony being there were lots of rules before that were challenged and changed. Lot's of rules I had no issue with. But Mascona was all for challenging those rules.
So if the St. John kid takes the NCAA to court and win, Matt still against it?

This is not true; it's just a perception because of high profile cases. According to Google the NCAA has won about 2/3 of its eligibility cases in the last year.

Ha! I listen on my 20 minute drive home.....but I did enjoy his rant on the hypocrisy of the national media in regard to WW.....I mean we've been railing on it for 6 years here but no one will listen to us idiots on an LSU message board. Mascona might get some clicks.
But his aside about it "being a rule" just seemed oddly out of step with his history on the subject.

I stand corrected, but my point remains....will his vehement protestations reverse if the Rule is changed or abolished as several have when challenged.

This is definitely going to court.

I feel sorry for your kids. I hope you don't have a son or he will be raised soft as baby shite and be a beta bitch his whole life.
Times have changed, dumbass. EVERY scholarship player on every D1 roster is getting paid. There is no such thing as a student athlete. They are ALL paid professional independent contractors in the eyes of the law. Maybe you need to read House v. NCAA and STFU about doing thing the right way, whatever the frick that means.

For every guidance issued by the NCAA, I raise you a federal injunction in a town the NCAA has never heard of.

You are right. The injunctions are coming!
