Damn. I still believe he could have been a terrific quarterback for us. Too bad injuries derailed him.

He's a grown man, he can make his own decisions and owes no explanation........but he likely would have gotten a shot at some point this season, even if he wasn't starting game 1. I don't understand quitting at this point.

Lol wut. He's a quitter
this board should at least have the intellectual honesty to admit that if Myles Brennan played for another other SEC team, this board would be screaming from the mountaintop that he's a quitter.

Anyone heard or seen how well Howard has been picking up the offense? Crazy if they said Howard would be the emergency / mop-up QB essentially leaving Myles 4th string. Howard can play in 4 games and not lose his redshirt. CBK came in with no ties to legacy players - needs to build for future. Myles is absolutely not CBK’s style of QB. I wish him well.

I'll dedicate my time to all you ranters who just lost your all-star.

I'm here to tell you that I told you so. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool you twice, you're a chump.

He did win the starting job, but got injured. Probably twice if Burrow hadn't transferred in.
no, no, no on Burrow.

O went out and got Burrow only BECAUSE Brennan didn't step up to the job in the spring of 2018.

Burrow didn't come here and take the job from Brennan. Brennan never had it - and O had to desperately go get a transfer.

Man, too many posters don't pay any attention to LSU football, or have selective memories.

Wow

Are you so certain? I think even they would tell you they're going to learn a lot this season just from familiarizing themselves with so many new coaching staffs and obviously playing against a different level of athlete on a regular basis. I think they're both great coaches and will learn and adjust quickly but it's common for new coaches to take some time to get things figured out in the SEC.

Plus I'm always hesitant of OCs until they prove it due to our OC history around here

He gon’ be aight. He’s gonna be successful making a living doing something well-paying.
He came in with the skill. I watched his espn recruit challenge back in the day. Dude could sling it and stick bullseyes on the moving targets all day.

The staff put valuable resources into him in the Spring and Fall. Resources that could have been placed on the other QBs. A few weeks before the season starts he leaves?

The staff put resources into evaluating whether he would be the starter. If he were in the lead for the starting role, I seriously doubt he would have hung up his cleats.

In other words - the staff got exactly what they needed out of whatever resources (I assume you are mainly referring to practice reps) they used on him.

I would certainly feel better about our QB depth if he stuck around but I’m not going to hate on him too much for hanging it up after 5 years with the program.

ETA: You could make the argument that it’s better in the long term, since it opens the door for Howard to get more reps.

Driskel transferred in January, had a full spring and fall with new team.

2 weeks before opening day is a bit late in the game to transfer and beat anyone out.
True, but it's still possible. There are some very weak arse starting QBs out there, and not all systems are too difficult to pick up. Regardless, just walking away is indicative that he probably just doesn't have the love for it. He's already shown signs by not being as involved with the receivers in the offseason. With that said, I'm not knocking him for it. If he doesn't love it, he doesn't love it. I hope he finds happiness doing whatever it is he loves.

he'll probably regret that one day, maybe sooner than later if there's an unfortunate injury or two

Duck duck duck duck. I watched Daniels play a few times last night when I was bored as the were only good game on at 11:00 pm. He makes incredible plays and commits ridiculously stupid turnovers. I think they still won the game I am thinking, as he made some incredible plays at the end, but he also committed 2 or 3 turnovers to keep them in the game

It’s not. The deadline to transfer with immediate eligibility for fall 2022 passed months ago.

Wow. Sucks for the kid. He gave LSU everything he had. I legitimately feel bad for him.

You are right. Started 3 games and lost 2, to Mississippi State and Missouri...beat Vandy though..

Didn’t LSU give up like 40+ in both losses?
