I am pretty sure Arnsparger or Archer told Favre he was a good LB prospect, not a qb. Evidently many other schools said the same.

Well, he showed up to Southern Miss as a defensive back, so even the team he signed with didn't think he was a QB.

Dak is the worse QB IN NFL…. He pulled the sheets over Jerry

And who gives a shite what he is in the NFL (somewhat better than average). He was a very good college QB which I truly believe we would have won the 2015 natty with him

I don't think it was Dak. I believe you're thinking of RGIII. If I remember correctly, Dak and his family never liked LSU for some reason.

It was Dak. Straight from the horse's mouth. He wanted to go to Texas and they didn't show any interest. He went to a couple of camps and LSU asked him to play tight end. He stuck with his commitment to State. You are right, however, that he did not grow up dreaming of going to LSU

quote:

“Texas didn’t give me the time of the day, especially at the time. Texas was Texas, they were done recruiting by the time you’re a junior and if you weren’t that good by then, then, ‘Hey, sorry.’ So, they didn’t give me the time of the day,” he told Graham Bensinger, per 247Sports. “And then LSU, go to the camp going into my senior year, they turn me off. Go to another camp, I believe, again, ‘Hey, you want to come play tight end? You’re athletic, maybe we’ll offer you as a tight end.’ No, I’m gonna play quarterback. And then I go into my senior year, and have a really, really good year, and LSU tries to offer me at that point but I’m already committed to Mississippi State. I wanted to be a man of my word. I grew up a Texas fan, I didn’t grow up an LSU fan. So it was even better at that time to shut up all the LSU fans and kind of put in their faces, ‘I don’t want to play for y’all. I want to come back and beat y’all.’”

Also of note, LSU was recruiting both Mettenberger and Teddy Bridgewater that recruiting cycle, obviously eventually signing Mettenberger. LSU had also signed Jerrard Randall, who was a higher rated QB recruit than Dak was in high school. Dak is just one of many players who are underrated and underrecruited in high school. It happens.

Just file this in the giant file drawer full of examples of Miles' incompetence.

doesn't matter what a guy does in the NFL - that's a completely different game.

It only matters what he did in college, that's what we care about.

We were obviously stacked at WR and Chase likely would have been a pro CB. We worked hard to get Chase to campus, he was a priority. Hardly an indictment of Miles.

Actually it is a sort of tribute to Miles that he respected the player's wishes and let him move to WR.

Anyone not obsessed with shitting on Miles might see this as a good thing.

Just reinforces how bad of a talent evaluator he was and why they had many misses in “fits” with that offense.

LSU also told Marshall Faulk he had to play defense....he went to San Diego St and the rest is history.

Learn from your mistakes.

Who are you referring to?

Miles was fired in 2016.

Chase was with LSU in 2018..

O is the reason Chase came to LSU. His father stated everything O said and promised was the truth.

But that is an indictment. Regardless how "stacked" you think you are at WR this guy is among the best ever at the position. It's an indictment that he would pass up on this. Nothing wrong with having several #1 WRs. Just goes to show how much his offense sucked and I am thankful he is gone.

Miles was going to cost LSU the opportunity to have Chase. He was not coming to LSU, because of Miles. He came because O made him a priority at WR and honored every word he told the Chase family.

Reminds me of the story Pete Jenkins loves to tell. He tried to recruit Marshall Faulk to LSU but as a defensive player. When asked years later whether that made him feel foolish he would reply Not at all. I still think he would have been a hell of a linebacker.
