Wrong!! He didn’t get the mop up duties because he requested to be redshirted !! Can’t have it both ways

If JD comes back there won’t be a legit QB competition. BK will go with his guy JD and LSU will lose 3-5 games again next year. The were lucky Arkansas’s starter was hurt or they would have loss that one.

This is a dumb take and has never been Kelly’s M.O

Because Kelly lost games that’s why. His position is the easy one. Unless the team goes undefeated and never allows a first down let alone a score then he can criticize the coach and say if only the coach played the other QB, hired the other DC, called the other play then we would have won. It’s an easy defense mechanism.

How would he pass up Nussmeier? Neither of them have played and Kelly called Nussmeier 1B in the preseason as a freshman.

I don't understand how you guys just delete Nussmeier from the program. Last I checked he's still on the roster.

If Nussmeier is the better player, then it’s pointless to worry about Howard. If Howard is the better player, it’s pointless to worry about Nussmeier.

They’re two highly-rated guys who are only a year apart. In today’s environment, it’s highly unlikely that you keep both on the roster for long. There’s virtually no chance that we have RS JR Nussmeier, RS SO Howard, RS FR Collins, and FR Hurley on the roster in 2024.

That’s precisely why you take a guy every year and let the cream rise to the top. If a kid is truly special, he should be able to compete (especially when we are talking about competing for the #2 spot) in his second year.

If he can’t win that spot and feels he’s better off transferring, that sucks but you deal with it. You try to convince him to stay, improve, and keep challenging. Maybe they buy in or maybe they don’t. But you don’t try to shoehorn guys into roles based on their egos, theoretical ceilings, or how likely they are to leave. That’s not how you build a culture of accountability. You build the culture by honestly assessing your players’ development and placing them on the depth chart accordingly.

The last thing I would add is that even if Howard is #3, that doesn’t necessarily mean he will still be running scout team next year. We will have a new true freshman (Collins) on the team, so at that point it just depends how Kelly chooses to run his practices.

down 30 against a team that stopped rushing the passer

that game is such a low hanging fruit for someone that doesnt know what they are watching. He still almost threw multiple INTS

You got everything right but the part about us wanting him.

If he can’t be better than 3rd and can’t live with being 3rd (and the opportunity that comes with that heading into 2024) then he really should move on.

Same for Nussmeier. If he can’t beat out Daniels and isn’t ok with 2nd string and the opportunity to win the job in 24, then he needs to move on.

You aren’t going to play any meaningful snaps in the game, so why would they take quality reps from those that will/might play?
How many times did we see Jayden get hurt this year and Nuss come in?

You really think it was far fetched for our 3rd string QB to play?

From the beginning, the plan was to redshirt Walker unless there was an emergency, so he was never in the same role from a competition standpoint, with the others.

It’s not out of the ordinary for your 3rd string QB to be the scout team QB.

I’d say.

Pretty much every HS, college, and pro team do this.

Not one of this year’s losses were on Daniels or the offense.

Florida St. and Aggy are wins with better QB play.

Now we hear complaining about him running with the Scout Team in 2022. What do they expect?
If Mike S. is correct it sounds like they want him to run scout team for a second year in a row and they don't want to do that.

Why do people do this. There are games that we lost that we might have won if Nuss played and there are games that we won that we might have lost if Nuss played (including Bama).

The reality is that we had a great season with a team and coaching staff that grew and developed as the season went on. Which was a nice change of pace from the 2 prior seasons.

Also, people that jump all over Walker bc of some dumb BS that Scar said, which at best was taken out of context, those people, they are idiots.
