I’m not one bit convinced that Napier was a bad choice for UF. I think still think he can be successful. But I certainly hope he’s not!

Comparatively, it is fair to say that for year one that Brian Kelly proved to be the better coach. Moving forward it is also fair to say that it appears that Brian Kelly is a better recruiter than Napier. So while it may not be fair to judge after one year, it seems fair to compare the two so far.

I'm lobbying for a lifetime extension for him at UF personally.

Ok but he got better at ull because he eventually accumulated better talent. He’s got way more talent at Florida as compared to Vanderbilt.

Way too early to pass final judgment on either one. Clearly, Kelley was a home run hire but he was clearly the better choice by any metric. Napier was always going to be a project.
And, as most of you know, coaching is the least of it. Running a major program has more to do with organization, hiring, retention, recruiting, coordinating with the administration, the boosters, the public, the media, etc. etc. assembling a staff is more important than knowing how to coach the defensive line.
ULL should have been a good training ground for Napier. Still, it will take time to transition to a more difficult league and a more complicated situation. We’ll know about him in a few years.
We know about Kelly now. Notre Dame to LSU was as close to a lateral move as you can get. He excelled at one place and looked to do the same here.

I truly don't understand why some are so defensive over the guy. He is from Tennessee and got started at Clemson and Bama

He coached at ULL and his last name is Napier. 90% of the people who wanted him in the first place were uneducated enough to think it was pronounced Nap-ee-yay and that he was a native son that was going to bring LSU to the promised land.

I’m glad we hired CBK but hope Napier does well in his career (hopefully somewhere outside the SEC). I think he’s a good, unseasoned coach who will do well with more experience and time at a higher level. Don’t understand the hate for him in this board.

I wasn’t hating on him. I was laughing at him. He looks like a kid playing a video game. Some of his decisions on the field, are just downright puzzling.

a. There was a contingent of idiots who thought he was the second coming of Jesus Christ himself. The overlap in this population and the "one of us" O loyalists was crazy, so you do the math.

b. Napier tried the same underhanded moves to sell future access to media members to have them trumpet his cause to the fanbase. Glen Guilbeau, Cullota, etc. clearly were receiving something from Napier to promote him. O did the exact same shite in 2016 to shed the interim tag.

Having the same people who promoted O, promoting Napier to replace O, creates clear warning signs. And those people in a were DEVOTED.

Florida just lost to Vanderbilt for only the 2nd time in the past 31 years. It’s absolutely fair.

Agree with all that but that makes me roll my eyes at those you mentioned more than Napier. Dude wanted his shot and didn’t get it. We are still stuck with our stupid fans and they will advocate so,e thing else stupid soon.

Yep. I’ll take Aranda, though, when CBK decides to retire.

It wasn’t just a dude on the radio. It was a concerted campaign and much of it played out on this very board. I’m talking 50-100 posters at least who not only wanted him but in unison declared he was the ONLY option. It was the most ridiculous idea ever

Interesting. I didn’t know Scott Woodward based his decisions on the opinions of up to 100 posters on the Rant. Thank god you and other clear-thinking power brokers helped Woodward see through this ruse and choose Brian Kelly.

He's a young coach in his first year at a power 5. Give him a few years. He makes it out going 500 on year 1, he'll be ok.

But very tRantlike.

If Florida gives him a minute, he'll do well I suspect. I wouldn't have hated him as the hire but doubt we would be where we are now with Napier here. I always thought Kelly was the better hire, just didn't see it coming until it happened.
