You people amaze me. If he’s so bad, he sucks, he needs to come back, why the hell would you want him back. Maason WILL have a long prosperous NFL career if the injury bug doesn’t get him. FACTS

I think he didn't have a full season at full strength. I wonder if his thought process would have changed at all had he known Bo Davis was coming. No telling what his draft stock would be if he was coached by Davis a year and fully healthy.

Understand the risk of injury in his senior year would have affected his decision, but he may have stood to make a ton of money with the right development this year. The high ankle sprain on the same leg as his ACL during rehab was a killer. He obviously was out of shape in September/October and on top of that his coaching was clearly garbage given how bad he looked for most of the year relative to his talent. It sucks as a fan because I had figured he would be a first round pick based on his talent and how he looked his freshman year.

Maason doesn’t suck, he just needs a good year without injuries to show he is a first rounder. He was not 100% this year. He came on towards the end of the year. If he stayed and showed out he would be a very high draft pick.

By going this year, he may not go too high and end up costing himself a lot of money. I wish the guy the best and hope he impresses at the combine and get himself into the first day of the draft.

FACTS LSU will play better without him and I agree that it’s odd people would want him back.

FACTS he displayed nothing in 3 years that resembled a long and prosperous NFL career. Hope he can hang around for 4 - 5 years but he moves like a 60 year old man.

I wish the dude nothing but the best, but that's a lot of words for a guy that was "meh" for the greater part of his time here.

He should have come back. Look at Kayshon Boutte for Maason Smith's NFL path. He'll be drafted in a late round and he'll stick around. Unfortunately, when you're drafted in a later round, talent and potential doesn't always get you there, unfortunately. Coaches and GMs have egos so a 1st round DT is going to have a better career than a 6th rd DT that is doing just as well because then people would have to put pride aside.

What are you confused about? We wanted him back next year because we barely have any defensive tackles. He wasn’t very good this year. He could have come back next year, played better, and improved his draft stock. Those are all facts.

He started off strong and his injury was a travesty.

He was never truly comfortable or the same beast of a player this first season post-injury.

We think it makes zero sense for him to enter the draft without getting back to and showing his full potential.

What is your fact? A statement that you pulled out of your arse?
Smith simply doesn’t have enough film to impress.

He had 9 solo tackles and 2.5 sacks in 12 games.

Wingo had 11 solo tackles and 4.5 sacks in 8 games.

Jefferson had 13 solo tackles and 2.5 sacks and he wasn’t the starter.

For you to say it’s a fact that he will have a long and prosperous nfl career is bullshite when he’s had a short, injury filled, and not very good college career.
