Aren’t we young every year?

It's where you are inexperienced that's an issue and this season was extremely high at the skill and trenches. We ranked 13th in the SEC (2nd to last) and 114th in CFB for returning starter experience. Replacing your QB. Despite all the appreciation of Burrow, he's a 1st year starter that arrived this summer. Davis was our most experience WR - gone. Ingram was our best OL - gone. Guice and Williams were far better than Brossette/CEH. The remaining returning WRs had less than 200yds combined. Our most experience OL is a JUCO transfer. The rest are soph/FR.

Then matters have been made worse with an offensive gameplan that is disjointed. The offense will be better next year simply due to experience and new talent ie Kardell, Davis and Emery, but we need better play calling if we are going to beat elite defenses like Bama's.

But, hey, if it makes you feel better then sure LSU is terrible and are light years away from ever competing for the NC.

If you think the only thing separatimg LSU from Alabama is a good o coordinator then you truly don't understand what makes a champion.

If we finish the regular season 10-2 and win a NY6 bowl game, I don’t know how the fans can’t be pleased with those results
it's not any one season in a vacuum. fans can take a slide in o production for one season but, it's now been 7 in a row and the excuses are diminishing given that the mythical last piece to the puzzle was solved in a huge way when they landed burrow. worse, many people don't have confidence that o will hire an improvement. the last time he tried that, he screwed it up ROYALLY and the whole season was a soap opera for the offense.

I didn't say it was the only thing that separates them from us, but it is the only thing that keeps us from competing
with /beating them.

Alabama has obviously developed a great program over the years. However, they can be beat. Teams do it each and every year (most of the time). Teams with less talent than LSU. So while Bama may have a superior program built that doesn't mean that LSU can't beat them.

So in your opinion what else do we need to be able to beat Bama?

A young LSU team is on the verge of an amazing season, there’s a real possibility of LSU finishing the season ranked in the top six as a team and in recruiting LSU may finish even higher.

Amazing would be closing out with a win in a New Years Day Bowl and finishing this recruiting class by adding another 5 star player, a DL, that would truly be outstanding. LSU appears to be on their way to doing so.

Well said all around, GEAUX TIGERS!

Les lost to Arkansas when they were 0-14 in SEC play. Let that sink in.

That was Miles 2nd worst team at LSU. Plus Arkansas finished that year 7-6, LSU 8-5, Arkansas could have beaten Alabama that year, they lost by 1 on a missed PAT

Now look at his record vs Ole Miss his last 3 year

Why the last 3 instead of last 5
2013 was a bad loss to them but we beat them in 14 when they were #3. Looking back at it, the 15 loss ultimately cost him his job, even with the shitty loss to Arkansas if we had beat OM we go to the Sugar Bowl and finish in the top 10.

A headhunter? Delpit is far from a headhunter. He’s the best safety in LSU history, imo, but headhunting is not his thing.

There’s plenty of posters here still clamoring for O and the rest to be fired at season’s end.

I'm a hard liner. Hard to please my arse. Been there, done that with LSU football for many decades going back to the Jones-Casanova era.

Represented LSU "On the Field" with GBFTL. (I was the Pre-Game Bass Drummer for 6 seasons)

LSU Grad.

A 10-2 regular season with a win over Aggy would show "Improvement" and be satisfactory. A big Bowl win would be icing on the cake.

Lose to Aggy and a Bowl loss would show regression and would be unacceptable.

Absolutely imperative to renovate that Offense (Progressive OC) and OL in the off-season.

Those are the two big hurdles if an SEC West/SEC Championship are the ultimate goal. The consistent and repetitive non-Championship "Wait until next Year" seasons are unacceptable.

If you're not in first place, you might as well be in last place...…….....

Plenty? There are a few, but there are always a few of them. No one in their right mind sees O getting fired this year.

That doesn't mean there isn't lots of people unhappy with this damn offense. Worse than Les gave us.

Have an upvote sir for an amazing observation that mystifies me too. I am so pleasantly surprised, I'm almost in disbelief as I truly and wholeheartedly believed this year's team would go at best 8-4.

The question is:

Who is to blame for our "not being close?" Use that as a new topic headline and watch the fireworks.

We still have to coach those guys up so they won't cower & be over matched when we play Bama...Why is Rashard Lawrence, Breiden Fehoko & Glen Logan just ok? We were told they'd be studs.

Yep, and for some reason this post reminds me of the "expert" that predicted LSU would lose 5 straight starting with the Alabama game. Ha!

Nope this season is a disaster. Just ask the negas theyll tell you.

If we lose to aTm then the board might implode. I know my inner nega will certainly come out. They will not be an easy team to beat. They will be motivated and Jimbo would love to finish on a high note.

That’s not mathematically possible AND no one predicted LSU to lose Rice AT ANY POINT IN TIME, so either you are misremembering or lying

No, that's something you just made up.

People are unhappy with the offense. They're worried that O hired a friend to be OC, rather than the best possible candidate.

Concerns and displeasure with the 104th ranked offense does not mean people are clamoring for the head coach to be fired.
