I think when he says "not hot enough" then he may NOT be referring to the actual temperature in the room.

You can’t replicate that with a 33 year old just because he had a good playing career

You might be right...but that doesn't seem to be the reputation that follows him. The guy always played bigger than his size. He had great football knowledge. Even later in his career, other players said that it was like having another coach on the field and he always elevated the play around him.

It might translate well to motivating kids to play for the school he loves. I would be perfectly ok with taking that chance.
I think the buyout states that we will keep paying him monthly. Once he gets a job offer then LSU can buy him off with a lower lump sum. It will basically be bonus money for him at that point.

Of course...that's just a guess.

LSU can't even win big over the scout team. The only time we won BIG was over an FCS team.

We're about to face a top-10 defense. We'll be lucky to score a field goal.

Jeez I forgot about him. Lol. I still lived in Lexington when I joined this board.
It took a Heisman winner and future NFL starter to beat them by a point. And our other Heisman winner before that.

If we beat them with this injured, rag-tag group of players and temporary coaches then that would be pretty impressive...but I ain't counting on it.

I can't wait to see what a spectacle they make of this on College Game Day this Saturday.

That opportunist doesn’t give a shite about LSU

I think you are absolutely right.

But, keep this shite out of the school I love. There are plenty of other areas to do your politicking.

Crazy how liberal this board is.

Dude, go read the first page of the poli board. It's a MAGA circle jerk.
We are so divided. Woodward is known for going after the big name in sports. It has worked well for him outside of Jimbo and BK. Jimbo was extended by TAMU, so it's not entirely on him. BK was the highest active win percentage coach on the market.

Times have changed and we don't know if Woodward's approach will change. I think incentive/performance based contracts will be a new reality for head coaches.

Is it so hard to have meetings with the board and Landry and hash out a new direction? I get it that they have different political ideologies. So what? They both love LSU and want it to succeed.

Woodward is the best guy to land a big name. Offset the buyout with some incentives and see what you can get. Dumbass Landry isn't going to change college athletics. We will still need to pay big dollars for winning coaches and there are no guarantees. CEOs get hired and fired all the time in big business.

Sure things don't exist...unless you are a politician playing the stock market.

I am told this is not going to drive anyone away from taking the LSU job.

Unless someone has talked to every potential coaching candidate and agent, then there is no way to know that.

I’m not doubting the veracity of what is being said.

I don’t get why he didn’t just agree to fire Sloan

Because he's so damn stubborn. Saban can get away with doing what he wants because he wins a championship every other year or so.

BK is just not a great coach. Not sure why he can't see what the rest of us do.
Nuss starts.

Harlem Berry runs the ball until they stop it. Nothing cute.

I haven’t had the time to watch a ton of other games outside of LSU this season but I certainly haven’t seen an OL perform worse than ours…and we have 4 and 5 stars…although younger.

Our two best linemen are transfers. That says a little something about coaching as well.

This is mostly a coaching problem.

This team will finish 6-6 or 7-5 and go to a bs bowl.

What is even sadder is that all of our NFL-caliber players will be sitting out to prep for the draft. Read that again...NFL-caliber players.

When NFL-Caliber players are going to Shreveport for a bowl game...I think that's on coaching.

I don’t get people being upset about shite that hasn’t happened yet.

I think it's just hard seeing your team crumble in real time. We can all see the deficiencies.

Our O-line should have started to gel by now. Nuss has actually regressed. We needed a defense to go with our great offense...and we got one. But, the offense forgot to show up this year. We have a stellar WR room, a preseason heisman favorite QB, an excellent returning RB and a 5-star freshman RB. I think we all knew the O-line would need some time...and most of us see that's not going to happen until it's probably too late. I think our coaches just aren't that good...because the players aren't chumps. And we see teams all over the country doing more with less.

It just breaks our little purple and gold hearts.

Jeez. Don't say that around the kids.

I honestly don't think he's hurt.

My unpopular opinion is that he plays scared. He's just not a very tough football player and he's scared of getting hit/hurt. I can't necessarily blame him...I wouldn't want to take a big hit either. But, he's an SEC QB.

He played more confidently behind NFL O-linemen who had excellent pass protection.

But he refuses to take running opportunities. 5-6 blockers against 3 pass rushers means Nuss had lanes to run. Stockton, Chambliss, Simpson, Mateer...and every other SEC QB would take those opportunities. Nuss will never do that...and defenses will keep playing accordingly.

The fact that we couldn't adjust our offense to what they were giving us is all on coaching.
