I just don't quite understand why he got rid of Canada. I thought he was on the right track. Maryland should have beat Ohio St. and mainly because Canada's offense. But, yea, I agree, LSU is an OC from winning a NC. Etling just wasn't good enough to make the throws last season that would have beat Sabama. I think Joe would have been.

We must beat A&M- keep the streak going & show recruits LSU is a better choice than losing with Jimbo...

Apparently he was toxic for the culture. He and the other coaches weren't working well together either.

I did too as far as improving the offense. I would have like to have seen what he could have done with Burrow and Brennan as QB 1 and 2.

Yeah I remember he under-threw Chark (I think) who would have had a TD if Etling was on point with the throw.

We actually out gained Bama on offense in that game.

Can’t say anything about fearing the offense next season but we return everyone off hopefully a 10-11 win season and have a legit shot I believe in being in Same boat next November. And if we are n the playoff discussion heading into Tuscaloosa then I’ll be happy. All we can ask for imo. Get to that point and who knows maybe a miracle happens

I hope we are and I think we could be.

See I just don't agree that it would take a miracle to beat Bama. We have the talent to compete with them. Some people may say we don't, but I think if teams with lesser talent can do it we can too with the right coaching in place.

Canada was really successful against last year because he understood how to utilize the best players in creative ways. What cost us in the game last year was that our QB didn't make the throws he had to make. Canada out gained Bamas offense in almost every category that wasn't passing (again QB did not make some of the big play opportunities he needed to make and could've made), and that was his first year as OC. We just need to get the right guys on the offensive staff and the Bama game goes from needing a miracle to win to being a competitive matchup once again.

If this young LSU team finishes the season with a win in a New Years Bowl and a top five recruiting ranking, it will be a sign the program is making significant gains needed in order to win a title. That should put a lot of LSU fans more at ease, I certainly would be more confident.

I don't really understand how he was toxic with the other coaches. I'm not in the locker room or close to the team in that regard, but I do know that Canada has the IQ to scheme and devise plays that could score against the likes of Sabama. I'm hoping Orgeron goes out and gets another OC who can adjust and scheme like Canada was able to. LSU can't out-talent Sabama. They've got to out-smart them. And O and SE just aren't on that level.

To be completely fair about the Bama matchup, this is not at all the same Bama offense as last year. They went from 444 ypg in 2017 to 542 ypg in 2018. Granted they still have to get through the toughest part of their schedule (the post-season) but it’s still a huge improvement.

Meanwhile LSU went from 411 ypg last year to 380 ypg this year. Not trying to rehash all of the starters we’ve lost, OC change, etc. except to say it really will have been a remarkable year if we go 10-2.
