We are undertalented at RB.

If LSU has an above average SEC RB, it's Emery.

Man I remember when Stovall rotated him out sometimes between Gary Hames and Dalton Hilliard. Then when Fournette was gassed, he’d go in for a few downs. It’s about time for this dude to shine!

Still not the lead or feature back. People need to let the hype go and appreciate any production he gives but he will not be the feature back for our team.

Why?
Five seasons, what makes this "Great News".
Fool me once, twice, thrice, and counting.
You guys still believe he can put together a season of in game production?
I'm more excited for the freshmen running backs.

Emery and Tre Bradford are planning a 10 year team reunion set for next year.

The position, as a whole, is becoming just as devalued in college as it has been in the NFL for several years now. It's nice to have a great RB. But not a necessity. You can still win with a solid RB or two.

From a pure physical traits standpoint you are probably right. But for 4 years he has proven to be completely unreliable. Both on and off the field. He's missed an entire season and chunks of other seasons/offseasons because of academic sanctions. When he's on the field he's equally as likely (probably more) to fumble or completely disappear as he his break a great run. You get excited because of the flashes (the 2020 run v. Alabama; the game vs. Auburn last season. The TD catch-run vs. Alabama). Then you forget he's on the team for the next 3, 4, 5 games.

It would be great if the the talent merged with reliability and consistency this year. But with 4 years of data at their disposal, I suspect the coaches aren't counting on that to happen and aren't including Emery having a big year as part of their plans for the upcoming season. While the other players (Williams, Diggs, Cain) don't have the "homerun threat" Emery possesses, the coaches know they can rely on them. That is why they will get the bulk of the carries unless Emery gives them a reason to believe he is the best option as the lead back.

If Emery is in shape and at full performance, he can be the best RB in the SEC.

I just don't understand this sentiment. I'm glad he's a full-go as we need the depth and he can make game changing plays, but he desperately needs to work on two MAJOR responsibilities of the position to even be considered the best RB on our team:

1. Securing the football (quick way to see no snaps is fumble a lot)
2. Pass blocking. He's been abysmal at this. Thankfully this is a pretty coachable.

Stats don't lie.
Emery has been at LSU playing since the 2019 season and has only five starts. His career average is 4.9 YPC.
And running the ball is is strength (as pointed out, pass blocking is not).
Josh Williams, by comparison, in three years has more starts and has a 5.1 ypc avg.
Emery was the all -time highest rated RB recruit for LSU not named Leonard Fournette.

The more RB’s the better this year. Having Emery is better than not having Emery.

Hope Logan Diggs stays. With Emery coming back. As far as AG who knows. Now we have a crowded RB room. I like Diggs a lot so I hope he stays on after this revelation.

Awesome! Now can we please get someone to teach him how to cover the ball when he runs?

It's crazy that he still holds him arm out like that.

No, it was Dalton Hilliard. You were on track with your thoughts, but got the wrong guy of the Dalton-James Gang duo.

You right though, he been here a long while, huh Cher?

I don't think he's cut out for College and it's all the more reason for the establishment of a Semi-Pro Football League so all these "Want to play football and could care less about Academics" types go go participate in right out of High School.....

And watching that gif over and over, it's a miracle #9 didn't knock that ball loose
