This came from BK last night on his radio show.

Something tells me the NIL deal he just signed has some nice incentives to staying around for 2023.

Now I doubt it would compete with rookie NFL money, but just enough to try and win a natty by staying here and potentially massively increasing his draft position.

I thought that was pretty common practice for players on the bubble. Really smart if the school wants him to have a neutral third party tell him the truth about his real prospects.

I know a lot of our fans loved hating on JD but to me he seems to have more of an upside than Young...but I am no scout

This is stuff we never did under Miles and Orgeron I feel. Plus, you have a trust in the system that if you come back you will develop and accomplish great things. But it's a pretty easy calculation at the end of the day. If you think you are a first round talent, coming back to play to that versus leaving and potentially being drafted in round 3 or later will net you millions.

Back to back nattys would be serious draft stock increase.

Not just for Daniels
For several players facing that decision

Brooks has another year due to covid and is likely returning

It's going to be a difficult decision.

He could continue blossoming on this team and have a really special year next year. Not Burrowesque (bit different skillsets) but similar trajectory and success IMO.

Daniels season this year is very reminiscent of Joe Burrows 2018 year. He started doing a lot better the second half of the year, could have probably been drafted in the middle to late rounds of the draft. He ended up staying and the rest is history.

Gotta do right by these kids if you want to keep the talent coming here.

Win now vs being a winning program

Anyone remember Trev Faulk years ago making a terrible decision when he left early?

I’m hearing that we brought in Beau Jurrow to give his unbiased opinion on why Jayden should stay his senior year

Gordon said his deals are 2-3 months.

There really are no neutral third parties in a contracted situation. Someone pays for the service and the contractor is influenced to some degree trying to please that party. I think it’s a good move and good for the kid, but the advice probably differs a little based on who pays the bill.

That makes the most sense.

Something came out earlier in the week from Gordon Mckernan (I think) about how Greg Brooks was making his decision this week about going pro.

I don’t think he was.. bc they have a game against his old team to prepare for, but this is probably what Gordon was alluding to. They were bringing in consultation this week to help them decide.

If JD comes back, then we get Howard after 2 years in the program, that alignment would be damn near perfect.
