The only thing I'll say is that this was posted on the SEC rant and the other big time programs(Bama, AU, UGA, A&M) all said that they don't have any free parking on/near their campuses.

My group is on South Stadium and Forestry.

We are in the large grass area at the corner of Highland and S. Stadium near the lake. Park in the cow palace lot, and then walk down S. Stadium when it's time to head to the game. It's amazing how few people there are on that walk compared to just a few years ago. For the cupcakes or really uninteresting SEC games, sometimes it feels like I don't see anybody until we get to Tureaud, and even then it's only about 1/2 of what used to be there.

The quality of the opponent combined with the performance of the program has much more to do with people being on campus than having to pay for parking.

You what will back the life to campus on gameday WINNING big games.

I passed my tickets on to my nephews 10 years ago, it seems like the AD is purposely driving fans away.

I wish I could be a fly on the wall in the meeting, "if we make all these lots paid, we can get rid of another 10,000 fans. Let's do it."

It used to be about leaving the house at 3, and getting to your spot before someone else, pulling out the lawn chairs and getting lubed up with those parked by you. It always led to a great atmosphere before, during ,and after the game.

That's all gone.

They should open it up old school for the bad games. I bet a ton more people would come out and have a great time. There is literally no reason to even go to a bad game except to bring young kids to let them have some experiences.

Texas A&M actually has free parking north of campus in a business park and bus rides (free) to the stadium. I've used this on a couple of occasions and it works very well.

And guess what, tailgating at these schools was never at the level of LSU, until now. LSU had something special and threw it away.

We’re in 401, right by where the high school coaches entrance is, mere feet from S. Stadium, have been for 10+ years, it’s incredible to see how as the parking (and ticket) prices go up, the crowds go down.

Auburn game last year was a 2:30 kick, the lots weren’t full at 11, it’s fricking sad. LSU football has lost a lot of its luster with this corporate bullshite.

Did anyone else notice that the UGA and Bama game price for General Parking has increased to $60?

Holy fricking shite... $60 to fricking park? That is absolutely unbelievable

Almost fricking criminal.. I mean, I can’t even try to justify why the frick it costs someone $60 to fricking park

I haven't been on campus for a game in a long time. Does reserve parking still hold up for gameday, especially if most of the lots aren't even being used?

Because people are willing to pay that?

I’ve been to every SEC Stadium (sans Missouri) in the last 10 years. There isn’t a single one that has convenient, on the main campus, free parking.

Anything that has a desirable location to tailgate is, at minimum $40.

It became fairly evident right after the DiNardo era that parking passes were more valuable than tickets.

It certainly hampers the gameday experience for some, but its just a fact of big time college football programs.

1.6 miles from the Levee South Lot at the corner of River & Gourier to Tiger Stadium. 3.2 mile one way trip. If you're in the SEZ Upper, you're walking a lot more than that when you count the trip up the ramps and then back down, along with the steps up to your seats and then back down postgame.

I'd easily say that's a 4 mile walk you're forcing Season Ticket Holders into just to watch a GD Football Game.

You wanna know what makes the Stadium Experience so GD poor? It's making paying fans walk MILES in the late Summer Heat just to get to see it.

Signed,

(Former*) 25 Year Season Ticket Holder

*Gave them up to the folk we've sat beside for 25 years as of this week.

Do you get to park in the BMW lot for free if you are driving a BMW?

Exactly. I remember people travelling to BR for games just to experience tailgating. We would always have people stop by and just eat and drink with us. No affiliation to LSU just wanted to see what it was all about. It used to be something special.

Skip Bertman deserves every bit of blame as Alleva. He put up up the black posts all over campus in the early 2000s which had a huge affect on tailgating. Alleva continued what Bertman started.
