This Ellis Hugh guy is doing his best to supplant them all as King of the Rantards.
He’s long been an idiot.

They didn’t put back ups in until 6 min left in the game and were constantly bringing 5 man pressures. They weren’t conceding anything. Please watch the game before saying this, even though I don’t have an opinion either way. I want the best guy to play

Nuss turns the ball over pretty much every game he plays in. Turnovers lose games at every level of football.

Turnovers were never discussed? No argument there, he has Brett Favre syndrome, but that was to the statement I responded to?

Sorry just replied to last post, not yours.

This. We’re not going to win a Natty with this guy.
We’ll be consistently in the 8-10 win range but no higher.
We’re paying a guy $100M to ignore special teams, line up in the gun on 4th and inches, and keep the best QBs on the bench
After a single year and massive improvement. You deserve your misery.

The best passing threat rode the bench all year until the last game and lit up the #1 defense for 300 yards and 2 TDs
This metric (and cherry picked stat), should NEVER be used to compare the 2 QB’s and is a prime example of the stupidity of some of our fans.
Do you seriously think the GA defense at that point was playing like a “”#1 defense” or even had their best players in the game at that point? The game was fricking OVER at halftime. Give me a break!

It was the equivalent of 28-3 with a team from Georgia. They of all people knew it wasn’t over. If we had snuck that 4th and <1 it was going to be a ballgame.
Also regarding turnovers, they’re not all created equal. Many of Nuss’ are going to be arm punts that don’t hurt as much as, say, a fumble on an aborted zone read in a tie game on the road.

Look how after a terrible start Freeman is now winning and recruiting at or above Kelly’s level.
Lol no. Freeman declined with Kelly’s staff and roster. Kelly is the key. He’s elevated every program he’s coached. He’s not “stubborn”, he’s smarter than we are which means that we don’t always under his decisions. But some people are too dumb to realize that.

Oh my god. Are you saying he plays 4D chess?
This is starting to feel like a cult.

I think howard will be the guy. Nuss is a turnover machine. He had 2 in one half. He has talent but does make mistakes. With the oline improvement next year and being a le to run the ball some, i think this sets up howard as the man.’

Did you actually SEE the turnovers? Neither one of them were Nuss's fault. The interception was the result of Boutte being held by the defensive back, which should have been defensive PI. The fumble was on Emery Jones getting SMOKED by the pass rusher who hit Nussmeier from behind. Howard may very well be the guy in the future, but for now it's Nussmeier.

Great points . Totally agree . Academic standards and lack of conference affiliation probably are other issues for ND . And … stone age facilities compared with SEC schools .

Pocket awareness?

Cue the ignorant fans. They give up on Daniels who leads to an SECCG
Some of us gave up on Daniels a very long time along and Nuss’ performance just confirmed how wrong CBK has been all season to keep him on the bench

I guess I don’t understand why everyone has to agree or think the same way. Fans of all teams have had different opinions and argued about personnel since the beginning of time. Everyone isn’t going to be a fan of the starting QB just like everyone isn’t going to be a fan of the sitting President of the country. It’s ok. The ability to speak different opinions is what separates us from China and N Korea.
That being said, I hope Nuss starts the bowl game.

Nuss was sacked once versus Daniel's 3...I'd say his pocket awareness is much better than JD's.

Lots of ifs in this ballgame. If we get a better snap on the kick, if we cover the blocked kick, if that ball doesn't take a wild carrom off a helmet. If they don't call that phantom low block on Jay Ward.

Many of Nuss’ are going to be arm punts
While that may be true in the future, it was not true for a single interception this season.
Nuss' 3 ints.
Vs Southern
Pick 1: 3rd and 12 at the LSU 26 pass picked at the 50 and returned for 12 yards. If that is an "Arm Punt" it is a bad one.
Pick 2: 3rd and Goal at the 6 and throws a pick six for a 94-yard TD for Southern. Def. not am "Arm Punt"
vs Georgia
Pick was thrown in the end zone with LSU at the UGA 29 on 3rd and 4. That was not going to be a punting, cost LSU a potential score. He had a couple of guys at the sticks and a RB just short of the line to gain he could have dump it to. The stick guys were tight but in front of their coverage and the back was open though coverage was closing. None were guaranteed but I think any of our QBs could have made at least 2 of those throws. Nuss didn't see any of those, though, he stared down Boutte the whole way and didn't see the safety over the top. Boutte did not actually have separation until after the ball was thrown (if then). I think he was trying to throw him open but that is not something you should do the defense has help in position over the top.
Hopefully, Nuss can learn to correct those things.
