There isn't enough dorm space because enrollment has increased so much. A big part of the increase in enrollment is because admission standards are so low now.

the problem with LSU is simple. they don't have any useful admission standards anymore. they are test optional which means the student body is very stupid. and educating many of them is a waste of time.

Greeaaat. Let's remove even more parking lots. The LSU admin better start building parking garages ASAP. Parking is already a major problem, and they're going to remove one of the bigger lots to put more buildings. LSU a bigger commuter school than they realize I guess.

Well I imagine having 1200 more beds on campus will alleviate some parking issues.

Sure beats private apartment costs.

I’m sure lsu will recoup the money back from this over time. On campus housing is expensive. Plus lsu won’t have to rent out apts bc of room shortage on campus.

that part of campus is going to be unrecognizable in 5-10 years - lots of stuff moving that direction - new LSU library, this dorm, I believe they are building 2 or 3 other buildings around there as well. Hopefully they turn that surface lot across from PFT into a big parking garage.

Must not have graduated from the business school.

Also, you have to improve the facilities to recruit top professors. The work improving the campus through upgrading and expanding the facilities will pay off in that respect. Also, better students will be recruited along with more/new industry partnerships that will bring revenue into the university and state. If we can keep the governor from screwing this up through moratoriums and adverse business conditions, LSU and Louisiana are at the very beginning of a huge boom to the economy. Almost as big as getting lane kiffin as coach. ??

This is just incorrect. LSU on average charges around $5500 per semester per student for housing. That's $11,000 per year per bed. Assuming this building will go 20+ years before needing renovations or repairs and you're currently missing out on revenue due to not being able to accomodate students on campus, its not a bad investment.

At LSU it's just over $5,000/semester currently

Instead of doing this, they would be better off buying all the blighted apartments by tigerland and north of campus

They’ve also got rid of every parking spot for students turning the 1 lot into a warzone

Who needs to park anywhere when you just dump those stupid scooters wherever you don't need it anymore.

Parking is the biggest issue with this construction.

Parking has steadily gotten worse at LSU and now they're going to wipe out 1000 parking spots for a dorm?

“Back in my day the dorms looked like this”

I lived in un-air conditioned Hodges, But I was also able to throw full cans of Schaeffer at the visiting teams buses outside Tiger Stadium, so well worth the $510 per semester rent.

We had the bright idea to go frick with the Florida equipment truck (A large Ryder moving truck) around 1 am the night before the 1985 game. One of the hoodrat dorm residents went to pop the lock with a coat hanger, realized it was open, and found the keys above the visor. Thank God they had a moment of clarity (and security cameras were non-existent) and instead of driving it to Freds, all they did was turn it around facing forward instead of backed in. We watched the whole thing from the dorm window and not five minutes after they left, LSU Police came by and was on scene for a half hour. Apparently, the Florida equipment guys were still setting up the visiting locker room and saw the whole thing and called the cops.

A good time was had by all.

They'd be better off just building a 633 unit condo complex.

Makes absolutely no sense to be that expensive.

This has been needed for awhile. They were still having overflow students in Kirby Smith as recent as 2019-2020. However, they need to build at least 2 massive parking garages as well.

I lived in Kirby smith where there were no doors on the shitter and you had to bang Reggies skanks on a twin sized bed 3 feet away from your room mate.

Pretty sure these kids dont need 160k dorms.
