If LSU wants to drag BK through the mud and air his dirty laundry they could probably get a reduced buyout but it’s a question of if you want to go through that.
sounds like if this is the route they wanted to take, they would have done so BEFORE the firing.

He gets $54 mil, but WHEN?

The when matters tremendously. If you could pay that to me 6 years from now, it’s worth about $30mil in one lump sum today.

If you owed ME that much money over the next 5-6 years, I’d DEFINITELY take some amount less than that in one payment tomorrow morning.

There’s time value to money people.

This was reported being done a week and a half ago. I thought he got 20 million. Due to him cheating on his wife and other things off the field! WAFB reported it????

how?
right now he get $54 mil

only way he gets less is if he negotiates for less.

He gets 54M in monthly payments over the next 5.5 years (approx. 8.7M/yr). Let's say he gets a G6 coaching gig for $2M/yr. His buyout payments reduce because the buyout is mitigated by the new salary. He still makes the same amount per year. At the end of 5.5 yrs, he made $54M.

If he takes a $30M lump sum and then goes and gets that $2M/yr gig. He can go invest that $30M and over 5.5yrs if he gets average returns, the $30M would be close to $50M and his additional $2M/yr wouldn't mitigate meaning that at the end of the 5.5 yrs, he could make roughly $61M.

As I said, take the lump sum. The longer it takes him to get his money, the less value each payment actually has due to inflation shrink and lost opportunity cost.

$25M was too low, but $30M gets you in a decent spot and $35M probably nets you the full $54M over the same time frame and you don't have the mitigation.

Honestly if I'm a jilted coach, I'd literally dig my heels in and make you pay me the full amount. I'd find whatever clause in the contract that I CAN do and do that. Can he make a podcast? A vlog? Create his own media company? Create a training academy? Work as an unpaid analyst somewhere?

It might make you mad as a hornet, but BK holds all the cards here. And if it was me, and if it was you - you'd make them pay the full amount.

If Woodward really forced Davis to remain on staff for last 4 yrs that alone is a fireable offense

How is this in anyway Landry’s fault?

Kelly was always going to try to get the maximum amount of money from LSU

Just refuse to pay him anything unless he settles. Tell him you will meet him and his wife in court and we will let the world hear why divorce proceedings were happening in 2023. Let's hear his wife's explanations of what she discovered. It would be a shame if the entire football world were watching.

And yet once he was finally fired, theres people coming out of the woodwork saying to take it easy on the thief. Hes PURE SCUM, if you dont hate BK then your head isnt on straight. Hes an enemy of LSU.

Are you retarded? LSU has no leg to stand on. They’ve missed their opportunity to terminate him for cause, and rumors of martial infidelity don’t meet the standard anyway.

What idiot writes a 10 season $100,000,000.00 contract without identifying achieving a quota?

this feels like before NIL people would get upset when a player would leave early for a draft. That player likely came from a dirt-poor background and people are upset he doesn't want to play for free anymore.

How about we just pay him zero. Take it all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary.

We’re already a complete dumpster fire, why not try to blow up this ridiculous model these agents have extorted from universities (who are federally funded by the way). Make an example out of him. He loafed… in any other job, that’s “cause” for termination.

And yes, I know football is self funded. But they are still under the umbrella of the university which wouldn’t exist without tax dollars and therefore the football program wouldn’t exist. If it would, then they would have minor league football. But they need the institution as a whole.

That doesn't make sense to me. If I wanted to go coach, I would take a $30M payment without the mitigation clause. Then I would have a free $30M and go coach tomorrow at PSU.

Without the mitigation clause removed, he can't coach without a significantly reduced payment from LSU.
