I suspect the ovation had more to do with the crowd recognizing that it was likely his last at bat in Alex Box, than any sort of "encouragement" for a guy in a slump. He would have gotten the same ovation had he been 15 for 15 or 0 for 15.

Feel the same way. Glad I was there to witness.

It was loud, but it was different. Not so much rowdy or celebratory like usual. It was just almost like a show of respect for his career. I hadn't really seen anything quite like it before.

I don't think so. I completely agree he would have gotten an ovation no matter what. The tenor of the ovation was unique to his specific situation. That's just my opinion, though.

I was hoping we would have kept it at a 5 run lead with 2 outs...Mainieri likely would have pulled him from short.

I laughed, because as he walked up, Macintosh504 posted something about him sucking his whole career, and choking at this at-bat. He then knocks in 2 runs. I think Mac may have gotten banned shortly after.

He truly is an amazingly pitiful poster.

i don't understand that dude. is he an LSU fan?

Everybody knew it was probably his last at bat in the Box...

Quickly!... What did Bregman do at his first at bat at LSU?

Oooh!... Not quick enough.

He fouled out to RF...Feb. 15 2013 against Maryland.

Slumpbusters for both Breg and Hale could prove very big this weekend

does it matter?? all i know he had just popped up the inning before (i think) and the crowd noise to me whether it was encouragement or recognition of potentially last at-bat had to add a little adrenaline to his swing and remind him he's a badass.

breg delivers

Why does it matter? The dude liked the support from the LSU fans. The horror.

I don't think it was encouragement.
The standing ovation was due to it being his last at bat at the Box!

It was both and more.

The combination of the situation itself. It was a huge AB. It was Bregman. It was his slump. It was his last AB in tBox.

I think it was a combination of both. I was hoping Fraley would get on in the 9th to see what he would have done...I am thinking he would have doubled or homered.

I don't know. We were only up one and I wasn't thinking last bat. I was thinking do it Alex, nothing else. I was not confident we wouldn't be playing today at that particular moment. Just me, though, that's why I was standing/clapping.

I got what you meant. We were like WTF are they getting so loud for. Took a minute to sink in. Then we were all on our feet in the Box.
1. Last at bat.
2. Big time opportunity.
3. Delivered like a champion.
