Tailgating is fine and great for the people who have tickets to the game and intend to attend the game. The people who come to campus simply to tailgate with no ticket and no intention of going to the game do nothing but add to the congestion. They are basically loitering and their only contribution is taking up the limited space for parking, adding more people to the mix to control, and generally just causing burden to the actual paying customers (i.e. ticket holders)
As a ticketholder, I'm fine with LSU taking steps to limit the number of people who are on campus who aren't going to the game itself. If you want to have a tailgate party but not go to the game, go tailgate at home. The fans attending the game are more than capable of maintaining the tailgating atmosphere LSU is known for
Amen brotha.
Bring on the down votes.

100K attend the game. Out of those 100k how many are tailgating?
There are some that go straight into stadium 1-2 hours before kickoff.
Some at walk ons, chimes, tigerland, etc.
Some go in staidum very early (thinking of South Stadium Club folks). I know for a fact because my parents go in and they always say how crowded it is even 2-3 hours before the game.
Some are opposing fans that dont have the means to set up a tailgate.
Dead may be an exaggeration, but definitely would not be the same atmosphere.

This is such a bad take. If you eliminated people that don't actually attend the games, campus would feel dead. Stopping people from doing something enjoyable just to make your experience more convenient is selfish
I bet you also bitch about the traffic.

All that lack of public parking is going to cause tailgating to take a hit. I can't believe the current administration is going so hard on "paid parking" which is going to eliminate what makes LSU so great. The tail gating.
Usually plenty of parking in soccer field areas close to river road and not a terrible walk to tailgating areas.

LSU charged $450 for parking years ago.
Failed to honor parking passes and we walked after 20+ years.
Last thing people need is being told by rent a cop there are no spaces available 5 hours before a game. Go park 2 miles away on the levee for free.
Sounds reasonable especially when you have a disabled passenger for 2 games that season.
Tailgating and parking are a joke compared to 20/30 yrs ago.
TAF and LSU ignore the fans and do not care about anything but a $$…

As far as I know, I have had to pay to park on every campus for road games. I do not recall any free parking for any stadium in the SEC and its been this way for decades. I may have missed a couple of stadiums but I am sure I have been to 14 of the 16 in the SEC. And some were in the $50 range. Gary Graham stepped down a few years ago so I have no idea who is in charge if it now.

I love the "i got tickets, therefore myself and others with tickets should only be allowed to tailgate" posts. Nothing like pulling up the ladder behind you. I suppose you don't like it when people stand up in tiger stadium, hate the loud rap music, and get annoyed when you can't hear 98.1 coming in through your headset when people cheer.

I can only speak for lots 400,401 and 403. We start the tailgate early and we get checked at the lot entrance as early as 8am.

Hayfield + e-bikes for the win.

Are you sure this is new? For years to cross Highland on S Stadium within a few hours of kickoff you’ve had to have your permit visible, and everyone else was forced to turn south.
Maybe now with permits being digital the process will be different, and I could see that possibly turning into a long backup, especially at that checkpoint.

Also have had to show a permit to turn off of Nicholson on to South Quad Dr. in the past. I don’t see a checkpoint there on the map you posted. Anyway, same timeframe.

At about 1 minute per car to check with multiple phones to review, what do you think traffic will look like?

quote:Right, but I don’t think it’s any different from last year. I do agree that with digital tags they probably need to clarify what the expectations are. It looks like they posted the traffic and parking reminder article on the website the week of the home opener last year.
