And you know that for sure? The suit was filed prior to the deadline of announcing the roster, when it should have never been an issue in the first place. If LSU wins this thing later on down the road its not insane to think a court decision would supersede another one of the SEC's "rules"

I get it. It should be fair and it isn't.
They are making an example of LSU and its only going to get worse. This level of distraction, bad will, negative press, etc is just not worth it.
It was worth it for OM because Chambliss is a QB

SEC issued more than one rule. You are correct that Chambliss didn't violate the rule concerning professional contracts (although the SEC commissioner just mere hours ago could not even explain what constitutes becoming a professional).
But they also confirmed their stance with the NCAA that players would have 5 years to play 5 seasons. Chambliss is entering year 6.

The NCAA may step in soon. They do NOT want this argument to end up in Federal courts, because they are very likely to lose the exemptions the whole thing is built upon.

Kentucky is already being sued for backing off a player that had a court order to play and they followed SEC rules, Simms vs NCAA, they were added as Defendant August 31st, they will add SEC soon I would expect it maybe KY will add them.
