The SEC rule was in place before any Louisiana court order, right?

Wrong, it was passed in a hurry after the TRO was granted and players started committing to LSU

Tome the bigger issue is did they or did they not get professional coaching.

Idk why that matters, but Harris never even practiced. Didnt even put on a helmet. But yet hes a pro?

The SEC's entire argument is that it wasn't new, and just a clarification that the NCAA rule against professionalism still applied under the SEC bylaws to these guys.

So they woulda been cool with players attending mini-camps in years past? Could players have been doing this all along?

That is interesting. I'm still shocked they haven't brought up the lawsuit yet....

They brought up the lawsuit briefly, but didn't go too far. Clayton brought it up among all of his theatrics.

A good LSU response to that would be something like:

This isn’t compelled speech or association—it’s regulation of competitive conduct. Nobody is forcing the SEC to endorse LSU’s position; the court is simply preventing the SEC from enforcing an allegedly UNLAWFUL eligibility rule.

Keep in mind, it was said in the hearing that none of these players is eligible to play against Clemson, so they won't play till next week at the earliest.

But shouldn't that also apply to all forms of eligibility under the NCAA guidelines, and the NCAA deemed Chambliss Ineligible.

If LSU responds on the merits, someone should be sued for malpractice

Theres about 64 different basises for a motion to dismiss before getting to the suit itself.

One would hope so.

My faith in elected judges is not high.

But as I've said, none of this really matters which is why its so infuriating that we got into this mess. We can't play them this season regardless of what happens in court today.

That would apply to fricking paying players and unlimited transfers. Which the SEC never tried to enforce outside of the NCAA or “clarify” that it had separate rules.

It’s incredibly disingenuous and will get picked apart. If there were inherent conference rules bootstrapped onto NCAA eligibility rules that couldn’t be overturned by courts then none of the last four years would have happened.

Basically this ends the same way regardless of what happens. Unless the LASC and the USSC both hear this case before tomorrow afternoon and both make determinative and final judgments that the players are eligible and/or that the federal suit is dismissed with prejudice (which isn't possible)---there is no way LSU can roster or play them. Win or lose in court.

Funny how you’re the only one who knew this. Maybe you should be on the payroll at one of these firms who doesn’t have an attorney that could have figured this out before all of the money and time spent.

Getting paid to do a job makes anyone a professional. Why the NCAA/SEC/B1G, etc cling to the amateurism narrative is baffling. They are stuck in the 50s with this mentality.
