I personally think FSU is going to try to surprise early in the game and on first possession throw one deep to show they're not really going to run first. They'll want to throw the defense off their balance early so they can actually assert the run. Also, want to test how good LSU's secondary is with all the transfers.

only 2 position groups they feel at a disadvantage is DL and WR

a DL advantage is huge tho. That's where games are won and lost. duquesene actually made some plays on FSU's OL but they couldn't tackle. I think FSU will try to run right at us early and realize that its not happening and have to pivot.

I agree. Those are both huge advantages. Our DL can for sure control and dominate their offensive scheme. If they have to rely purely on Travis throwing the ball then they are in serious trouble. Duquesne's WR were open all day long, their QB just sucked. If our WR's get that open, as well it will be a long day for FSU.

took our top 5 coach into overtime just last year

That is a fact.

His team seemed pretty well coached Saturday, but lacking the crazy athletic skill positions on both sides of the ball

Therein lies his problem. If he gameplan for LSU the same as he did for Notre Dame, he will be run out of the Dome with all the skill position players LSU will send at him in waves. Something ND lacked.

Why?

Because Aranda is the next great coach in CFB and is by all accounts a very genuine person.

Kelly is on the downslope of his career, has reached his ceiling, and comes off as very slimy and disingenuous.

Okay, so just whining because we didn’t hire who you wanted. Thanks for confirming.

This will not be close, LSU is bigger and more physical. In the end LSU wins by 10 to 14 points. I do not think FSU gets 20. Feels like a 31-20 or 34-17 game. One thing for sure here, LSU's defense is experienced and deep. Our receivers are deep and they will not be able to cover them in the end. We run just enough to open everything up.

Kayshon isn’t our only receiver haha. We have a beast of a receiving corps. Good luck.

These are all issues that this board has discussed over and over the past couple of weeks. All speculation about how LSU plays together once the game is real.

I would also agree but those advantages LSU has are monumental.

They’re not exactly wrong. We’re breaking in a new coaching staff, and it’s the first game of the season at a neutral site against a power 5 opponent. If there is a time to steal a win from LSU, it’s this week.

On defense I expect LSU to be pretty basic the first 2.5 quarters by rushing 4 on run downs and 3 maybe four on pass downs. Depending on the flow of the game I can see the LSU defense start to mix in some exotic blitzes and stunts at the line around the middle of the third quarter.

On offense I expect the LSU offense to be run heavy then mix in play action. I can see the TEs (both Mason and Kole), Bech and Nabors (if not injured) having a good night as the FSU CBs focus on Kayshon. Kayshon will have a couple or three big plays late.

this is what worries me....the new starters were at McNeese and ULL last year.

Most of that is fairly accurate and fair.

I mean none of that is really all that unfair, it’s definitely skewed more toward the negative, but it’s not really untrue.
