Also he swerved off after the accident.

If you knew anything about this area, you would know that weakens this accusation. Lacy was a local hero. If there was any way to help him out of this jam, it would have been done discreetly.

According to the attorney 4-1/2 minutes is missing from the body cam video.

The DA should have dropped the negligent homicide charge and the hit and run.....because both were clearly bu....it. At best Lacy was guilty of a 14:99 . And he should have done it as soon as the DA was made aware of the video. Fact is that at the time of the accident Lacy was 72 yards behind it and in the proper lane. That fact alone negates any claim of negligent homicide or hit and run in a criminal sense.
Not saying he did not have liability, but it was nowhere near criminal liability. Maybe proportional in a civil sense. DA should have gotten that information out fast. It should never have gotten to it being presented to a grand jury.. Cop to the lesser charge of illegal lane usage and illegal operation for passing in a no passing zone. For sure, the LSP trooper who "investigated" should be considered for other lines of work that do not involve police work.

As Lacy was illegally passing the other vehicles, the driver of a northbound pickup truck abruptly braked and swerved to the right to avoid a head-on collision with the approaching Dodge. Traveling behind the pickup was a 2017 Kia Cadenza whose driver swerved left to avoid the on coming Dodge Charger.
Was this from the police report? The same police report the pickup driver refused to sign because it was inaccurate?

Go back and watch the video again. The crash happens and you see the top of the truck turn into the driveway.
Again. How did her car get in front of the truck, if he wasnt on the side of the road? If he was in front of her, then his vehicle should have blocked the view of the impact. It did not. He didnt pull his truck into the parking lot until after the crash occurred
I'm not taking up for her. I'm saying Lacy caused the dominoes to fall, once the truck left the roadway due to him being illegally in the wrong lane, and then the Kia made a fatal decision, as a result

I think people are forgetting how liability in a traffic accident works sometimes. If I slam on my brakes to avoid a squirrel, and get rear ended, the guy behind me is getting cited. It could be a similar situation here. Hell, everyone could have been driving like assholes, but the first domino that falls is liable.

Thats because he slammed on his brake and pulled to the side of the road. And came to a complete stop, out of camera range
I keep seeing similar statements. Do we know this is true? Did the driver of the truck admit to doing this? Either in his coerced signed statement or otherwise? Did a witness confirm this?

probably because there's nothing in that video that contradicts the witness reports from the very beginning.
So you have more of an issue with the way Ory is handling it? LSP did a shitty investigation and is now getting called out on it I am not sure how that is not good. The video is what it is I dont understand the issue.

If he thought he partially caused the death by slamming on his brakes, he will NEVER admit to slamming on his brakes

He's a fame whore trying to make a name for himself.
If he really wants to litigate this, he needs to file a civil suit on behalf of the family and do this in court. Not on HTV.
No he's not. I played ball with Matt when we were kids and he and his family are some of the most solid and good people you would ever know.

Lacy got roasted on social media. This seems like a good place to fight back.
The video established that Lacy did not knowingly hit and run or flee from an accident scene. Yes, his actions contributed to the fatality, but I think this establishes that the tailgating woman is the one who caused the fatality.
Sad all the way around, but this brought balance to the issue and at least exonerated Lacy from being someone who knowingly fled the scene of an accident he caused.

55 MPH TOWARD EACH OTHER
The gold truck was going 28mph.
It was the woman behind him that was speeding going 49 who didn’t touch her brakes at all until right before impact (and who the good truck driver said was the cause of the crash).

The law in louisiana is that you’re supposed to be following the car in front of you with enough time to stop safely.
If you can’t slam on your breaks and avoid hitting them you’re following too closely.
thats again, on the lady who swerved into oncoming traffic.

He knew exactly what would happen when he did that interview and did it anyway. He deserves whatever criticism comes his way.

is there a video or picture that illustrates how all this went down?

He stopped because of the wreck not because of the illegal pass by Lacy.

I wonder if they pulled his black box from the truck like they did the Funyun girls car?
Posted on 10/6/25 at 11:05 am to SUB
Well Funyun girl said that he braked, then that he braked harder and THEN that he stopped right in the road.
So idk.
BUT if she said that he braked, then why then hell didn’t she??

Distraction id guess as thats normally the case. The amount of wrecks caused by people not paying attention driving on autopilot or dicking around with their phones....or eating funyuns apparently.
