Understandably so with the injuries.
He has said in so many words that things will be very challenging without our key guys.
Felt like losing Whit really bummed him out too. I’m sure they have a bond with him dating Landry.
Injuries are part of it, but it just feels like we got stuck with shite end of the stick this year.
Hope the backups can step up and shine. Let’s not forget the backups are all highly recruited talented kids as well.

The whole Whit going down emotions makes sense. The guy was involved obviously with the Kiffin hire in discussions with his new coach and ready to make a run in his final year. Tie all of that along with dating and living with Kiffins daughter can totally make sense why Kiff was emotional. Hopefully he is able to come back later in the season

He should be. He's already lost best player on the team and best offensive player, one of his best defensive players who's captain, a very good DB and has a plethora of depth pieces that showed potential getting hurt too. There's no telling how long SL's injury lingers either and him throwing like he did will be harder because defenses will start gameplans with the idea who's more limited mobile wise. Unless by some miracle next man up applies to all the injuries at some point these injuries will take a toll on your team. You have to get lucky in this area in order to make the playoffs. Not looking like our year.

All the injuries absolutely suck. But silver lining is younger players will be gaining valuable experience which could pay dividends next year.

Kiffin is very calculated. I get the feeling that he probably thought with no significant injuries this team had a chance to do something special. Now with these injuries he probably thinks its too much to overcome in regards to winning a championship. I could be wrong though.

All the injuries this early in the season is tough to survive.

I don't see a clear cut dominant team that can't be beat so there's that.

I’d imagine that on top of the obvious (elite LB, team leader. Etc.) he has emotional attachment to him also being that he’s been with Lanes daughter for a long time. I’m sure he feels awful for the guy. Just an all around bad situation.

I alluded to this, in other words in another thread. People didnt seem to agree with me.
These injuries are devastating. We are not in a good spot for any of the remaining games besides McNeese and ar-Kansas. Lane has mentioned it everytime hes been in front of a camera since the game ended Saturday.

I think our only chance of making any noise is squeaking by with no more than one more loss and hope a lot of the injured guys can come back and have enough time to get back up to speed before the regular season ends.
I think 9-3 is likely our ceiling with these injuries.

I agree with his point that the amount of injuries especially to important players is insane. Extremely unlucky and I agree its very tough to overcome. You could tell Whit's injury really bothered him because outside of being our best defender was the heartbeat of the team and emotional leader. Losing those players is always tough.

We are getting Mcneese at a great time. If Trey dez and Whit’s time table are both in November… that will be nice motivation for the team.

It's not that people disagree that the injuries are not ideal. The disagreement is with the hyperbolic descriptions of "devastating" and the suggesting that LSU will struggle with everyone except for the two worst teams remaining on the schedule.
Green didn't play on Saturday. Yet, Leavitt had, far and away, his best day as a passer this season. And that was against a better pass defense (albeit slightly) than Ole Miss. Weeks is a good player. NO ONE is going to deny otherwise, Yet, unlike the last two seasons, LSU has another impact LB in Dottery. That will allow a solid, but not spectacular player in Keys to not have to be a dominant player. Spears is a good player. But now maybe the secondary becomes a bit better by moving Thomas to safety and Benefield (who is a better player than Spears) to Star. Of course, if the injuries continue to pile up there will be more cause for concern. But things aren't "devastating" yet.
The severity of Leavitt's injury is the only big question because it is unlikely LSU can overcome that like they have with the others. But until there is something more definitive at the time LSU plays Kentucky, the use of descriptors such as "devastating" is exaggerated.
