Speaking to close friend of mine from Ole Miss.

He informed me he isn’t surprised of the loss at all. Every year they had 1-2 head scratching moments where they felt like. What?!?!?
He told me that Kiffin forms a board within the football team to assign leaders. He puts it on the team to be in charge with each other in making decisions being more vocal and such. That takes time for everyone to buy in. It’s part of his process that he created at Ole Miss.
He learned it from Saban and that tool can be very effective but I could also see it backfiring as well.
He wants to hold everyone accountable. LSU is in a great spot. Fans just need to be patient and give him the time.

Even coming out of a timeout our coaches couldn’t see it. Good stuff. Money well spent.

Kiffin coached injured last night

For the past couple of weeks he has mentioned a lot on the emphasis of the injuries on the team and wants to be healthy week to week. Well last night he coached like he was injured. Didn’t seem to have the same fire and intensity last night. It was weird yet I felt on offense we could score at will on that defense.
Where Lane showed his weakness(injury) last night was the 4th and 1 call. Looking in the booth on the TV coverage, you could tell Weis Jr and Stevens were very frustrated with the call. I even thought they called TO to evaluate their defensive set up and still go for it. Nope PUNT

I’d also add injuries are indeed a thing in sports. LSU just doesn’t have the depth where it is needed.

Saw some arrogance and swagger in the Clemson and A&M game but it wasn’t there last night. This team is very confusing to me right now.

Anyone have that pic. It was 3rd and 11 and they ran for 12. What is that? That was a HUGE first down. LSU stops them there and goes down to get any score, the game is over.
Coming out of a timeout makes it even more special

We know. LSU lost their chip after week 1. LSU is now the mid to low tier of the SEC. Ole Miss, Missouri and now Kentucky has surpassed them. Think about that for a minute.

I truly felt after that Clemson beat down, this team was going to be unstoppable. Sure there was the hiccup in Ole Miss and I actually picked that loss along with 1 of the 3(Bama, Texas, Tennessee)
But the team was literally sleep walking last night with no energy no fire and especially NO SWAGGER.
Whose to blame with that? Who?
Lane. Period. He knows it and needs to fix it.
That first weeks halftime speech was staged. He knew he had that game in hand. Now 5 weeks in he gets outcoached by Stein and Sloan. Come on man. Do better.
How could he NOT go for it on 4th and 1 to close this game out is beyond me. We should be 5-1 right now and in the top 10 instead we just put Kentucky in the top 25 and now LSU has an uphill battle with a subpar OLine, average RB core and a QB who likes to take risks.
On the defensive side there is ALOT to improve. I never would have thought that with their performance against Clemson and A&M but it’s obvious that our D is not as advertised. Still time to turn it around but Lanes not scaring anyone at all.

Is not consistent enough and honestly why we lost both Ole Miss and Kentucky games. It just isn’t good.
Georgia rushed for 189 with their 3rd and 4th string RB’s at Bama
Lane didn’t have the confidence for our group to get a 1/2 yard push. Say what you want about Miles but LSU always seem to have the hogs up front to wear teams out. LSU currently doesn’t have that.
LSU needs depth and more solid OLine play otherwise it’s going to be a long season.

I was always going to give Lane 1 year. My ceiling was 10-2 and floor 8-4 but I never thought we would lose to Kentucky. I had us losing 2 of these games
