So he had no problem when he took the Alabama coordinator job.....

He had no problem with it when he took the Ole Miss job.....

He had no problem coaching when coaching for 6 years.....

Hop, skip, jump and 13 million dollars later....bingo he has a problem.......

I get it.....sounds logical.

People who see racism behind every wiggling bush probably have the same opinion, based on symbolism and history. Its all they know, they cant solve problem without calling someone or something racist. But to say that in 2026 is utterly stupid.

Actually it’s not, many of these players still have relatives, including those that have raised them outside of their parents, who lived through the race war years of the 50s-70s and still have bitter memories they refuse to let go that play on their decision making and influencing those kids…

If they haven't gotten over it in 50 years, they never will. That's on them.

Reading comprehension folks.

HE did not say that.

Vanity Fair interpolated that into what he said. No part of the text contained between “quote” symbols contained the words “Confederate” or “Rebels”.

That was all Vanity Fair’s interpretation, which should surprise nobody.

I did not. We are limited in characters. The thread title is 100% true. It was an issue for him in recruiting. He says that.

Re-read the quote. No part of the actual quote mentions “Confederate” or “Rebels” or anything else of that nature. Those words were interpolated into Lane’s quote by the Vanity Fair writer.

Kiffin is not the latest to say it. Vanity Fair said it and stuck their assumption into Kiff’s actual quote.

Kiffin’s real mistake was agreeing to an interview with Vanity Fair.

And it would not be difficult to find articles published over the years slamming the University of Mississippi for their Rebel identity and refusal to surrender to the national push to eliminate those images associated with slavery.

I was actually proud of Ole Miss for refusing to buckle to the outside influences.

It is what it is.

I'd hope people that are ignorant enough not to believe it are at least intelligent enough to understand that this hurts Ole Miss and helps LSU when it comes to recruiting.

I agree.

Kiffin and LSU opened up their doors and spent all day interviewing and holding photo shoots in his office and in Tiger Stadium, and their big headline takeaway is “Kiffin says Ole Miss is racist”.

Go check out social media

It’s now filled with LSU purple and gold rebel flags and tailgates and stories from Louisiana bringing back the confederate statues (what timing from Landry )

This was not necessary for Kiffin. He stepped in it here . It’s just a divisive topic that a southern football coach should step nowhere near. And if you want to bring up recruiting the biggest battles now seem to be with the big 10 vs sec, and brining up the freaking confederacy isn’t going to help any school down here

Yep, this is a non-issue now. Kiff needs to concentrate on winning football games. Kind of silly for him to bring this up, he won't get any recruiting mileage out of it.

I think many will see it that way, but diversity at LSU is not a popular concept to some here and even when it's Lane at the height is his popularity using it - some won't care for it.

HMMM.

Didn't seem to keep him from recruiting up a team comprised predominantly with black athletes that made the CFP top 12 . . .

And doesn't seem to keep southern teams in the SEC from recruiting kids to win more nattys than any other cfb division in the modern era . . .

Seems like some clickbait. . .

Lane being Lane.

You know how much about LSU you need to know to get anything racial about Tigers? I didn’t and I’ve supported LSU my whole life lol. I’m in the majority.

Ole Miss Confederate shite is right in your face for everyone who knows a civil war anything to see. Big difference as far as optics.
