he may been frustrated that that kept a few players away but I seriously doubt that he really gives a shite about the Confederate connections

MASSA WIFE (Ole Miss) bent over and took it dry from the Politically Correct Police not too long ago.
They dumped everything "CONFEDERATE" (Except Rebels)
Colonel Reb GONE.
Rebel Flags GONE.
Dixie GONE
"REBELS" still hanging on by a thread, but it's usually Rebel Bear Sharks now.
what else can be done, except to officially remove REBELS.
Doesn't seem like all the perceived vestiges to "Old Southern Confederatei" culture have hurt recruiting too much either.
Wasn't Ole Miss in the CFP semi-finals this past season?

Ole Miss fan now saying the SEC is going to suspend Kiffin
this is just sad.

The point is I wasn't trying to do anything. We are restricted as to how many characters we can put in a thread title.
Feign ignorance all you want. You obviously posted it in a way to stir the pot

I did not. We are limited in characters.
The thread title is 100% true. It was an issue for him in recruiting.
He says that.

For the people talking about grandparents being influences for kids not going to Ole Miss…..I mean it’s not ancient history for someone that was alive in 1962 to remember the riots and national guard being sent to Oxford to integrate the school. James Meredith walking into class with armed guards while being yelled & spit at by white students was only 64 years ago. Plenty fresh in a 70-90ish grandparents mind.
There was push back all over the south during this time to some extent, but Oxford is one that made international news. A LOT has changed since then, but a lot has stayed the same

This shite is putting the LSU Ole Miss hate into hyperdrive and I am all in for it. Sept. 19th is going to be amazing no matter what happens.

I just read the entire article. It was about the professional and personal journey of Lane Kiffin, and how he finds himself now in Baton Rouge at LSU. The tweet touched on just a really small piece of it. But this was the entire part:
Which should not be controversial at all. And the very next sentences of the article were these:
He didn’t specify what the “some things” were, but the writer added this:
And the writer lets those facts just sit there without commentary. I think the implication is that the town of Oxford itself is likely another, separate from Ole Miss.
And earlier in the article, Kiffin said this about Ole Miss giving him a chance:
And there’s plenty more on what went into his decision, but none of it had anything to do with race or alluded to the Confederacy in any way.
But Lane is a different kinda dude. He’s kinda mysterious and you know exactly what he’s trying to communicate. A lot of times there are multiple, subtle layers. You never know what he’s truly thinking. The writer said this:
And then quoted Finebaum:
Which I think Lane thrives on. And uses to his advantage better than almost anyone. The quote from the tweet on the OP is all about recruiting. He mentioned it being a hurdle and just one of many reasons he chose LSU over Ole Miss. But you can’t discount the fact that while he was talking about race and recruiting in the context that’s obvious, he’s also subtly and slyly using it to positively recruit LSU and negatively recruit Ole Miss. Without most people even realizing it. He’s incepting it subliminally. Pretty brilliant, honestly.
LSU has had some of the all time great characters in CFB history over just the past 20-25 years. Lane may be the most interesting of all of them. We are gonna love him for the most part. Especially if he wins, which he will. But he’s gonna do some things that really piss us off, too. Regardless, it’s gonna be fascinating to watch. Can’t wait.
quote:
When he was coaching there, Kiffin says, top recruits would tell him, “‘Hey, coach, we really like you. But my grandparents aren’t letting me move to Oxford, Mississippi.’ That doesn’t come up when you say Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Parents were sitting here this weekend saying the campus’s diversity feels so great: ‘It feels like there’s no segregation. And we want that for our kid because that’s the real world.’”
Which should not be controversial at all. And the very next sentences of the article were these:
quote:
(The next day Kiffin added, “I just hope [my comment] comes across respectful to Ole Miss…. There are some things that I’m saying that are factual, they’re not shots.”
He didn’t specify what the “some things” were, but the writer added this:
quote:
The population of Baton Rouge is about 51% Black and 36% white; Oxford is about 66% white, 26% Black.
And the writer lets those facts just sit there without commentary. I think the implication is that the town of Oxford itself is likely another, separate from Ole Miss.
And earlier in the article, Kiffin said this about Ole Miss giving him a chance:
quote:
“I needed Oxford and Ole Miss a lot more than they needed me.”
The writer said this:
quote:
After four hours of talking with Kiffin, I’m stumped: Is he endearingly sincere or so full of shite that it’s an art form?
And then quoted Finebaum:
quote:
“I first met him in 2009, and I can’t decide either,”
Which I think Lane thrives on. And uses to his advantage better than almost anyone. The quote from the tweet on the OP is all about recruiting. Ummmm. No he isn’t and never was. I do t agree with the pandering one bit but they sure bent to knee and rebranded as the rebel black bears back in the height of the summer of love. The last couple years Col reb has been shown a lot and I often said with their abrupt 180 and all the pussies out there offended by everything, how is he still a thing there.

Yeah but Baton Rouge and lsu are more diverse than ole miss and Oxford. Ole miss is 80% white and lsu is 60% white. Oxford 67% white and Baton Rouge is 36 % white.
