There's little chance anything in that article is factual. Like this..

I've actually known people that had no interest in going to a Mississippi school to play sports because of its history and same for Alabama. Hell, some even for LSU. The only difference with Alabama is they had a massive history of success in the sport that was in the top tier and so some overlooked it.

Racism is alive and well all over this country, and it is on all sides. But for most of these "fans', they could give a rats arse about a minority kid if they can't help their school win football game or other sporting game. They claim that means they aren't racist, but it is in fact worse. You are treating them as human because they give you some kind of pride for a school or state. If they can't do that for you. Most of the US is like that.

houston nutt had the same feedback on ole miss after he left.

People who see racism behind every wiggling bush probably have the same opinion, based on symbolism and history. Its all they know, they cant solve problem without calling someone or something racist.

But to say that in 2026 is utterly stupid.

I know the same for people regarding Alabama, Ole Miss, Tennessee.

Ignorant people who havent caught up with the modern age. Placating retards is a horrible move There are HBCU's for these folks, if theyre terrified of whitey.

Where does the "Tigers" nickname come from

The LSU Tigers nickname, adopted in 1896, originates from Civil War history, specifically honoring the "Louisiana Tigers," a famed brigade of Confederate soldiers known for their ferocity.

Every five years or so, this myth is posted on TigerDroppings.

The "Tigers" nickname came from the way the players were dressed when they played Tulane in 1895:

It was the custom at that time, for some occult reason, to call football teams by the names of vicious animals; the Yale Bulldogs and the Princeton Tigers, for example. This is still the vogue. It struck me that purple and gold looked Tigerish enough and I suggested that we choose “Louisiana Tigers,” all in conference with the boys.
It is true that the Louisiana Tigers had represented Louisiana in the Civil War and had been known for their hard fighting. Tigers was applied collectively to the New Orleans Zouaves, the Donaldsonville Cannoniers, and to a number of other Louisiana companies sent to Virginia.

The Tigers head symbol came from the Washington Artillery of New Orleans that adopted the symbol years before the Civil War.

Doubt most of the players are angered by someone pointing out Ole Miss' confederate ties.

Yeah, Kiffin was so traumatized and affected by this that his team made the playoffs. Boy that roster is hurting because of this....

He;'s moralizing to justify his move.

Yet his team made the playoffs. Evidently, Ole Miss doesnt have a difficult time attracting good talent.

He gave Frank Wilson all the ammo he needs when the Ole Miss fanbase starts wondering why he can't sign elite talent like he did at LSU.

Kids liked and trusted Frank.

But you’re high if you think kids are following him to ole piss

doubt he had a lot of options/offers, Kiffen isn’t an elite coach, and really doesn’t have a successful resume, there’s just not a lot out there to choose from

LSU doesn't make a shrine of it the way Ole Miss does. OM and Aggy are kind of similar in that regard.

Kiffin was trolling somewhat, but there's also a kernel of truth to it. It may not be the decisive factor, but I imagine it's something a kid would weigh.

Of course, some people are so ate up with politics that this will be enough for them to jump off the Lane Train
